one of the few players who, if he had torn ligaments in August 2024 and been out of the team for the entire season, would not have felt a moment that he was missing
always works his bollocks off and is always available , not his fault he has been worked into the ground due to injuries to the squad , also he's prepared to play any position to help the team

Astonishing lack of respect for Bernie on here and a failure to notice the key role he plays in the team, he’s not flashy but he’s very effective.

Andy Morrison has some fascinating opinions on Bernie on Cheesy’s podcast this week saying that he’s been our best player this last month and has been instrumental in our unbeaten run since the international break

Has been very good in the middle in recent weeks.

Unsure if he should stay though if we're bringing MGW and Reijnders in.

I think back to that stunning goal he scored at the swamp, driving forward and whacking it in the top corner from 25 yards, and wonder just what has happened to him. Truth is he wanted to go to Barca for several years, but they wouldn’t or couldn’t pay for him, so he is going through the motions a bit now. It is really sad how a number of our stalwarts are coming to the end on such a low note. Who knows, he might get a cup final winner.
I always thought of him, when he played at centre mid, as the most luxurious midfield pitbull, rather than a creative player, he could keep things ticking really well without slowing the game down, never lose the ball and pressed and ran like a mad man to get it back.

He’s worked himself into the ground. His poor performances aren’t for a lack of trying.

I actually think his games recently where he drops deep into defence to pick the ball up have really suited him, but he’s just not got the same engine and he’s lost a vital yard or two for an already slow player.

Playing with a weaker midfield this season hasn’t helped him, and with Rodri and reinforcements next year, he might look more comfortable. But he’s wanted out for years and still gave everything, even when moves didn’t happen or were blocked by the club.

Genuinely one of my favourite ever players, nobody has tried harder or cared as much. If he does leave I wish him the best, he’ll still look at home in Spain, Italy, Portugal etc, Prem is too quick.

Thanks for all the great things you're done but this is it, we can't have him here next year because Pep will continue to play him when it's obvious he's way past it.

He'd be the only experienced midfielder I'd keep.

De Bruyne, Gundogan and Kovacic can go.

Played without a DM against a decent side and didn't really notice it because he was technically excellent.

Forget his performances on the right wing, in the middle he is more than good enough to contribute next season. I'm not talking every game but 30-40 games in a 60 game season.

He's problem no1 for me. Been a brilliant player but he's incapable of running so slows the game down to walking pace.

We need to get rid this summer or we'll limp through next season with him too.

You say 30/40 but Pep is giving him 60. That's the problem.

I think we sign 2 midfielder this summer. Reijnders and Wirtz hopefully.

With Rodri back too I think 30 games for Bernardo in the middle is find.

He's not like the other old players, Gundogan, KDB and Kovacic all have shown technical inefficiency. Bernardo's touch is still the best in the squad.

His ability to pass it sideways and backwards is the best too, shame he can't play it forward to save his life.

That was fine today, his job was to protect the back 4 and recycle the ball. We played without a DM because he was so good.

The amount of times the ball was pinged into him and he cushioned it and kept the ball moving was ridiculous. Only Rodri has the ability to do that in our squad.

He's lost a yard of pace to be played on the right anymore but in the middle he's our 2nd best ball player after Rodri.

But he isn't. He never passes the ball forwards and when he receives it he slows the game down to his (very slow) pace.

Some people really don't understand the roles he's tasked with do they?

I thought he was excellent today. Every time they looked to get out he was there breaking up play, stopping the out ball and doubling up to win the ball back quickly. Palace couldn't get out to get counter attacks for most of the game primarily because bernardo put in a superb performance.
