20 | Bernardo Silva - 2024/25

It's not silva fault it's not Kdb fault it's not Gundo fault it want even Walker fault it's the clubs fault for thinking these players will go again and again and again and again without thinking going again and again that the players will become physically and mentally fucked prone to injures because of it!

So am not going to have a go at any of our players who have been here won it all!!

They're just getting older. The problem is players age differently, look at Fern, when he was 36 he still looked decent but on the other hand Bernie looks ready for the scrapheap and he's only 31.

He doesn't do anything anymore as you say because he is easily played around when he's trying on his own. How many times is he pressing one player, the ball goes to another player and bernardo is the closest city player and ends up trying to press them too? Bernardo is one of the few city players still capable of executing the press, the problem is the lack of others that can do it with him.
he's far too slow now to execute a press, you know he's getting absolutely nowhere near them quick enough before he attempts to.

No doubt we have had the best years of Bernie but at the very top level even a 5% drop off is significant. Noticeable that last night PSG seemed very fluid in midfield whereas we were clunky and always just that second behind making space or a tackle. Bernie ran and ran but failed to influence any part of that match and sadly that has been the same for most matches this year. Previously he like David before him was able to use his body to slalom away from tackles whereas now he gets caught and that has led him to be ultra cautious. He has never been a player who would rather slow everything down and pass back but that is what he has become. Maybe fitness, maybe the balance of our midfield is all wrong. We have Lewis and Foden (the younger guys) moving into areas and stopping because they want to only be in certain positions. I saw last night players who were playing for themselves when really what we need is all playing for the team - This is a big problem for Pep because until you have Rodri (the glue that binds it all together) we have a very ill disciplined midfield unit.

At the end of the day for me we should only retain Kev as the elder statesman in the squad and that is because even in his twilight years he is the one player who looks to play the killer passes. I thought Phil would be capable of stepping into that with youthful energy but many times this year when he has played in the middle he is wasteful. So next year I think we will have to say a fond farewell to Bernie, Kovacic, Gundo and also stop having Lewis wandering into areas that both leave the defence vulnerable to counters and deny the space we need to play faster and more aggressively - over to you Pep because in 18 months we've gone from having the best midfield combination in the world to a very average one.

Bernardo isn't finished.

His main problem is that he's been overplayed due to a combination of factors, e.g., Rodri's injury, Kevin's injuries, Kova's injuries, Foden's loss of form, etc. If he could be rotated, he would have been in a much better form.

Of course, we need younger and physically more imposing midfielders. Bernie is good enough to be rotated and played once in a week. Whether it makes financial sense for us given his wages is something for Pep and the club bosses to decide.

He is like the horse in Animal Farm. Been worked to death. Needs to put his feet up for two weeks. The played once a week.
The old Bernie will be back.

He's playing because he's getting selected. Unfortunately, he might be done at this level.

That Dembele nutmegged almost gave me an aneurysm.

He's been in steal-a-living mode for a few years now.
Shit choice of words. He may have declined seriously but a thief - never.

“A few years” is also bollox. One and a half seasons more like.

Maybe English isn’t your language, in which case I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt by not calling you a disrespectful twat.
