Yeah, such a shame that all that running to put himself between our CBs was done to do another 3 yard pass to the other CB, that the 3 times he tried a forward pass, 2 were misplaced, that the 2 times he dribbled forward, both times he ended up losing the ball, and that he runs so slow that he can barely win the challenges or even get to challenge opposition players.
Sarcasm alongside wild exaggeration never lends itself well to a point being made and only ever indicates a lack of a solid argument.

If you genuinely don't see the work he did today and recognise he was easily one of our best performers you really should be considering watching a different sport.

Just glad he didn’t get sent off, he was getting madder and madder as the minutes ticked by

I did think he was going to go at the end too.

There is some sarcasm, but I don't think is that far from the truth (abd that's crazy!!). How many forward passes of more than 5 yards do you think he tried? And it is true that the only two times he went and dribbled forward, he ended up cornered and lost the ball. Again I tould you what he did all night long. He ran a lot to put himself between both our CBs, but he only recycled the ball to the other CB. Please, tell me one offensive he actually started? Anything that was meaningful in some way, a dribbling, a recovery, a good/interesting pass forward, anything. Or even one tackle thst you think was important.

His role wasn't to create so why expect that? Who else created anything? It's also a bit hard to create something when you've got a completely static setup up top.

He broke down multiple counters, kept the ball to resist their counter presses when they bothered and was always the extra man to double up when it was needed be that on the right side or the left. That was his role today. He did it superbly well and without him we'd have got twatted.

His work ethic is still there, but really hate him on the ball these days. Conservatism to an absolute fault, a general lack of adventure and even quality on the ball. His season mirrors the bosses, sadly. I think if I could pick one player to leave this summer, it would be bernardo. He's not the worst player in the squad but it feels like he more than anyone is guilty of holding us in a bygone era.

Fantastically talented player and a brilliant servant to City. He’s won it all and we should never forget how influential and reliable he was at his best. Time for him to move on now though - with our love and thanks.

No idea what he does on the pitch. No assists no goals . No through passes. Just running around for 2 years in my opinion. Don’t hate him because of ageism or something - just he’s one of the most ineffective players I’ve ever seen . Oke of the biggest reasons we don’t score goals

To say he wasn’t one of our best players on the day would incredibly harsh…and faint praise, unfortunately.

Sadly, though, even after the years of him playing the way he did today, albeit usually in a much better team, some people still appear incapable of understanding Bernardo’s role in the team, and the way Pep uses him…often in multiple roles within the same game…but that’s not him!

Cant wait how our next manager will use him.

According to stats he was our best midfielder

I respect that he's never lost the graft but his goal threat evaporated.

See if he wants another year after the seasonus horriblis, doesn't seem that long ago he was sticking the knife and fork into Madrid in the treble season.

Him going into defense to nurse Khusanov back into the Chelsea game after that howler still speaks volumes about the bloke in my book.

That was two seasons back. You can count on one hand his great games since, sadly

I’d rather Bernardo stays for another year. There will be enough senior transfers out this summer. His total professionalism means he will remain very important to the squad even if he plays significantly less next year.

I think we'd allow him to leave for a fairly modest fee if he can come to an arrangement with Benfica over wages.
I'm sure there will be some young, bright Benfica talent we can line up for a future deal, in lieu of a reduced fee for Bernie...
