20 years ago today. One of the best comebacks of all time

I wasn’t ‘there’ but me and our kid watched the game at his house, and couldn’t be arsed going seeing our newborn nephew that day. Our sister still gives us shit to this day (what do you expect she’s a woman!)

My nephew is proud we didn’t go and see him, he’s a 20 year dyed in the wool blue! He wouldn’t have it any other way.

Another plus, this thread has reminded to message him on his birthday
Will never forget that game Typical City , god I love em

Posted this tale at least twice before but I like telling it.
I missed the first half of the match and got into the pub as Barton was being sent off. Bitterly cold day in nyc so stayed for the second half just to keep warm, me and the Irish barman the only souls there. At the end I set off home and was stopped on the corner by an old dear selling Bible verses. She said she wanted to tell me about a miracle, I told her it's alright, just seen one.

I was there. My mate who used to come to the away games with us had to miss this one. I rang him from whl at 3 all. He was a decorator working on a night job, at half time he went back to the job at 3 0 and a man down. He didn’t believe me that it was 3 all so I gave my phone to another lad to confirm it just as John Macken made it 4 3 and pandemonium broke out. Not that funny but still makes me laugh.

After the game the spurs fans were going mental and the coppers re-shut the gates at our end, must have been pretty hairy for those Blues who had already got out.
I managed to get out fairly quickly at the final whistle but had no colours on as I'd driven down to Cockfosters tube station straight from work so had no problems on the hike back to Seven Sisters. I'd been at the League Cup match before Xmas when they stuffed us 3-1 and wasn't expecting much better after Macken missed the chance to win it at home. Unforgettable night - even with all the recent successes it'll easily stay in my top 10 City matches.

We got out, they were like rabid dogs, had a quiet drink in the Elbow Room pub before walking back to seven sisters for tube to cockfosters

Watched it at home with a very good Spurs supporting mate. He just retreated into the sofa as the second half comeback progressed and I could barely see him when the 4th went in. Didn’t know it was possible to make yourself that small.

Still the most unbelievable game I’ve seen although a couple since have run it close ;-)
