2019 Summer Window - Whom do we Need ? - Whom will we Sign?

If we`re looking at homegrown players, Daniel James from Swansea would be a good addition. Available for 10m apparently. Sane and James on the left, Bernardo and Raz on the right
But what about Mahrez? Im not convinced we are getting rid of him.

Yes could be though if not De Ligt, who ?, thought maybe Aarons as HG right back.
Possibly Steffen but haven't seen anything about Bravo leaving so left him in as either way will take up a foreign spot. Only other centre back I thought of if we go for homegrown there is Ake.
Don't know really who as foreign CB, been linked with Benfica's Ferro and BMG's Elvedi, but I just have feeling we might go for foreign CB. Good point about Bravo, forgot him.

fairly sure we'll only buy 1 homegrown player to replace Delph and fairly sure it'll be either a full back or a centre back. Expect next seasons squad like the last few to be 17 non homegrown 4 homegrown.

Mahrez is the only one where wages will be an issue to shift him. Others we either don't want to let go or aren't on big wages. Mahrez is on 180k a week I think, so people suggesting clubs like dortmund it's not possible really.

I am just thinking out loud and I am not saying this will deffo happen
Possible Outs:
Danilo
Mango
Bravo? I assume this will happen not heard anything about him since the injury.
Jack Harrison
Douglas Luiz
Then possibly
Gundogan
Sane also said to possibly be on the move
Silva -Dave- recent links to joining up with D Villa and Inesta in Japan
Komps if a one year extension can’t be agreed?
Maybe even a surprise one ..Aguero
If a two year ban is coming? ( This is quite scary)
Ins
Recent links to
Hernandez
Fernandes
Felix
Oh Christ I don’t know lol .
We have to have someone to rotate with Fern for sure and replacements for those who go. Not easy this shite. Good luck Txixi

The problem is that there is not many good homegrown fullbacks or centrebacks (I have no idea about the championship) that could strengthen us. Maguire would be 70m or more, and Chilwell would probably be 50+ as well. AWB looks like he is staying, but there are also several clubs that are interested in signing him as their first chocie RB, but here would just be Walkers deputy. James looks like a bargain for 10m. Liverpool has bought several cheap players from the championship, and has succeeded with it

Looking very much like 5 players. Those seem to be Rodrigo, Bruno, Chillwell, Centre back and right back.

It seems to me the outs will be Delph, Otamendi, Danilo, Mendy, Mangala. No inside information just guesswork.

There's a kid (21) named Joe Rodon that plays centre back for Swansea. He's apparently a ball playing CB that some have likened to John Stones (no idea who thinks so it's on his Wikipedia page.)

Don`t know much about him, might be a good player. IMO, if Otamendi is leaving, we should either go for De Ligt who`s an Mbappe level talent, or Alderweireld, 25m release clause, experienced and old enough not to ruin Garcias or Harwood-Bellis pathway to the first team. If we can`t get one of De Ligt or Alderweireld, Garcia and Harwood-Bellis should rotate as the 4th choice CB IMO. If we`re looking at homegrown players, I really like the look of Daniel James and Harvey Barnes
I don't really know much about him either, just that he's home grown and considered, by some to be a talent.

I'd be fine with bringing TA in from Spurs for a couple seasons then letting one of our younger players take over.

Do you still think we will get reasonable fees for them? 25 million each for Otamendi, Gundogan and Danilo?
No. Also you’re use of the word ‘still’ suggests I’ve previously said we would get decent fees for them.

We don’t get decent fees for anyone.

Didn't intend for still to suggest anything
Just asking opinion on the potential transfer fees

so is this going to be the new...its quiet thread...or will one of those start after the end of the season?

for me we need:

a mobile defensive midfielder or at least someone to replace Ferna

a left back to (though Zinchenko has done amazingly well again this season but is he happy to play there?)

An attacking midfielder - for me this is fernades

A centre half (Otto looks to be leaving and we need cover for Kompany no matter how you look at it)

I think Danillo is underated on here but if he is leaving then we need a replacement cover for right back

I centre forward - Kun will at some point start to wain and we need to start investing in that player now....give him time to learn while Ku is here. Not sure about this Joao Felix - undoubted talent but would he cut it in a very physical league?

Danilo is rumoured to take pay cut to join Inter and if those players genuinely want to leave, then they will take pay cut, if not, then they really dont want to leave. It would be different if City were pushing those out and I don't think thats the case (well maybe Delph).

Gundogan will attract interest from big clubs like Bayern, Real, Juventus surely so wages in his case won't be issue anyway
I heard Gundogan has an offer on the table of 20m Euros at Inter.

Don't know if it's true but City won't pay him that and it looks like he wants to run his contract down.

So, he either goes or we have him for one more season.
Great player imo

This has to be an epic window for City, as I've heard Chelsea's 2yr transfer ban has been confirmed.

Bearing in mind I think they found us also guilty of the same charge, something to do with the English FA getting it wrong, it would be safe to assume we'll cop for the same sentence.

Makes Sundays game quite important!

I was writing this as part of a response on the De Ligt thread, but figured it was more appropriate here.
I think for next season, here are the areas we need to improve to stay at our level and challenge for all trophies again.

1. Fullbacks (Walker, Zin, Mendy) have to become better footballers and produce more chances more consistently or their replacements will have to be sought. Since a fullback to replace Danilo is required said player should be of the attacking variety. Someone like Ricardo Perreira. I'm hoping Aarons can be that player. AWB isn't. He is an athletic defensive fullback who was miscast as a winger once. If we are losing Walker AWB is his replacement. But if we are looking for an addition to our possession and chance creation, he isn't that.

2. DM. Has to be quicker and smoother in build ups (Gundogan does this well), yet quicker speed wise and also aggressive in the tackle for those moments when we are under pressure (Dihno does the latter well), but neither are as quick as will be required going forward.

3. Cohesion and Press. Our forward line and attacking mids must accept the challenge of permanent out of possession pressure as being part of their game. So far we have Bernado ( perfect example), Kevin ( great at it in 2nd half of last season) and Gabriel Jesus ( natural part of his game) who have done it consistently. Raz is capable and does it early season but always taper off from overuse. So rotation is key. And freshness required. Hence why keeping all our current young players is key.

There is this quiet but noticeable push to try to push Gabriel Jesus out of the squad. Let me just say it categorically, its a terrible and short sighted idea. Frankly, it's a blind idea, you don't have to look deep to see why that's the case.

A front 3 of Gabriel, Raz and Bernado with a healthy Kev and another pressing AM is the future. Add a smooth passing DM and better attacking play from our Fullbacks and we'll be at peak improvement.
