what do you mean by that?
Thinking Trump was the best candidate four years ago (majority of US voters didn’t agree) and that Biden “just” may creep over the line when polling 8 days out forecasts the largest election victory in two generations (and no the polls weren’t way out last time, the final national polling was out by 1.1% and pollsters believe they’ve changed their system to become even more accurate at counting the shy Trump voter and the Comey letter led to a fall from 5 to 3 points in that last week prior t the election).

tbh i find the endless coverage in the UK news of the American presidential election tedious in the extreme. Trump is a complete arse but lets be honest is Biden really the best they could come up with to go against him. Hes way too old at 78 and has so little charisma. Who else is deemed suitable for such a demanding job at nearly eighty?? Seems to me as if Trump won 4yrs ago because he was the best out of a very poor choice. Biden might do the same this year just.

Endless coverage? What channel are you watching? Barely a week away but it is nowhere near pushing COVID off the top of the news. It is kind of important though don’t you think.

Agree with you about Biden though, hardly an inspiring choice. I don’t know enough about American politics or the democrats to understand how he won the nomination but America itself seems to be a pretty conservative country.

Clinton was a poor candidate, so poor she couldn't win against Trump. Does her loss 4 yrs ago not reflect more badly on her more than him?

Biden will win because Trump is so bad, not because Biden is the stand out candidate IMO. They could have a pumpkin with a US flag on as a candidate and a significant ammount of people would still vote for it rather than have Trump in power for another 4 yrs.

Biden received more votes in the primaries than any candidate other than Obama which is why he’s the nominee. He wouldn’t have been my choice by a long shot but he’s vanilla and that’s why the Dems membership overwhelmingly picked him to beat Trump.

Anyway, my point was simply that it’s unlikely he will “just” beat Trump, something the coverage is making relatively clear.

10minutes of headline news last night, mostly about nothing, apart from Biden has a clear lead in the polls. No tough questions about things such as policy on the threat from China or Russia to the democracies of the world asked of either cadidate. Seems to be just mostly pictures and interviews with jingoistic flag waving Americans, but also tellingly last night a few interviews with voters who were clearly unimpressed with both candidates.

ok i accept just was the wrong word. But my point stands on Biden, You said yourself not your candidate. Can i ask why?

I think the majority of Americans would settle for normal over charismatic right now.

He seems a nice enough bloke but at his age, no matter how sprightly he is, he’s an old guy and it’s a demanding role. I much preferred Mayor Pete (though being gay, he’d have perhaps struggled in some states).

I like a great deal of what Sanders believes but again there’s an age/health thing (he had a heart attack in the last year) and then there’s a fact he’s branded a communist for believing in a living wage and for wanting universal healthcare so I wouldn’t have fancied his chances of turning indys and purple GoP supporters away from Trump as the campaign would have been one long scare/disinformation campaign against him.

The Dems are desperately in need of a Kennedy like figure.

Kennedy, a man whos legend far outweighs his achievements? Now there's a topic lol!

Trump doesn't like tough questions.

Anyway, you should be happy the more time they devote to the US election the less airspace there is for the monumental cock up that is B****t ;-)
