So whilst pointing out that the author of the book Licensed to Lie, is lying, TC also tells us that UFO's definitely exist and that electronic voting is definitely dangerous.
He was hedging his bets there. But that is a dramatic shift for him. You expect him to just take it at face value and repeat the allegation. It was only a few weeks back he 'lost' his Hunter Biden evidence in the mail. Didnt stop him then.

Astonishing. I was trying to work out what brought that on.

The only thing I can come up with is that Carlson is being leaned on by Trump directly, but Fox want some evidence before committing. Carlson is then just putting his defence out there as to why he isn't doing it.

Think of it as a direct conversation with Trump and Guliani. He lost his last lot of 'evidence' in the mail - he can't play that card again. He needs something new to point at. He's asking them to deliver it.

That's certainly another way of looking at it. Difficult to know which is right - it still feels like Trump misjudging how far Carlson/Fox will go for him, given his recent abuse of Fox.

Tucker is I think without doubt a **** but he`s not completely stupid.

Perhaps he doesn`t want to go down with the USS Trump.
He wants to run in 4 years, so needs to walk the tightrope between not destroying faith in democracy as he will need their votes, but also sucking up to trump enough to keep trumps base on his side

Disagree.
It's the big business owners and media tycoons who side with fascism when push comes to shove rather than support the working class. Not necessarily well intentioned liberal types.
As a by product of not understanding what big business do(of which, ironically the chain he knows is a part of) to create the fields for fascism, he and his ilk are thoroughly engaging at the teat of MSM, steadily taking in and digesting the information the 1% want.

It's entirely why people don't understand why soldiers are in the Middle East but support it, why they believe Russia is so powerful they fear the very mention of 'influence' it has and why they certainly believe the the fight between citizens is a class one and not a wealth one.

And so, a smart fascist comes in to exploit all of this.

You say it's "not necessarily well intentioned liberal types" fault, but I say I disagree when they're too lazy to do any research about anything. They're complicit in that way.

Trotsky explained that it was what he called the Petty Bourgeoise who were the most likely to support Fascism, by that he meant small business owners and the middle class. As they preferred order to chaos. It needs a leader that they have confidence in and who will keep there status intact. He thought that the middle class do not do extreme if their business is doing well, but can be enraged in times of hardship to support Fascism. The petty bourgeoise in despair and hard times will see Fascism as a bulwark against corporate interest.

Umberto Eco in his 14 attributes needed for fascism to coalesce states that Fascism appeals to the "frustrated middle class"

They actually implied Soros was connected to planned voter fraud in the press conference, this is Qanon levels of crackpot theory
..and Hugo Chavez... who died 7 years ago... And the Clintons.... It's beyond farcical now. Yet his cult will lap it all up blindly...

His legal team look like the kind of crackpots you'd find operating out of a dark room above a laundrette for no win, no fee... Obviously just stretching it out for as long as he can to dupe more cash from his supporters...

The petit bourgeoisie are drawn from a far wider pool that small business owners. Many professions are principally comprised of the petit bourgeoisie, including teaching.

Trotsky explained or Trotsky opined?

Even Giuliani must know by now that it's done and there's no coming back. As you say, it's about fleecing supporters and getting revenge on the population for dumping him. It's a shame the GOP can't grow a pair and impeach him now to save 2 more months of this grotesque spectacle but too many of them are in too deep, and whilst the majority of the cult are still on board they won't risk the blowback.

If this current debacle doesn't demonstrate to people how the US constitution is unfit for purpose, then they are totally beyond help.
But what do you suggest? If the President isn't going to abide by the rules, laws, traditions, and history of his predecessors, and his party is going to be complicit in ignoring them and enable such, what Constitution is fit for purpose? Anyhow, I'm not sure I agree -- the courts are doing what they are supposed to thus far; this isn't going anywhere. It's a pantomime. A pantomime that will allow Trump and his supporters to live in a fantasy land where they had the election stolen. And -- far more importantly -- will allow Trump and those in on the Trump con to fleece the snot out of the hapless.
