Yeah, but see, he’s lying. More perspectives equals a bigger audience equals more money. There’s nothing altruistic about his motives. No one “deserves” a platform, but lots of people think they do today, because they have access to one, and they way through the noise and clutter is to do something that gets attention. A platform in the days of old media was earned. Hence why the democratization of the bully pulpit via technology elevates the exposure of crazy cranks, shysters, know-nothings, and dangerous fringe believers to levels previously occupied by those who earned them through knowledge, study, experience and smarts — the group termed “the elites” by those who didn’t do the work and/or don’t have the talent. The old media had limited reach and editorial control that would never have allowed such people a platform. So Rogan is part of the problem. Because he’s giving them a platform that they wouldn’t get were he serious about anything other than audience size. Which is his job, of course, and that’s fine, and you find it interesting, which is also fine. But he’s a poser and a grifter, I just wish he wouldn’t lie about it. Howard Stern doesn’t — he admits it.
You’ve definitely got a point there and I don’t necessarily disagree with the general premise of what you’re saying, that’s how he’s got the biggest podcast on the planet, as he appeals to everyone.

Your point on the technology age is crucial to this, suddenly a completely dangerous idiot has the access to beam their shite to millions of people, when 30 years ago, they’d have been sat at the end of the bar, ranting in their local pub, being ignored.

Personally i think the horse may have bolted. I cannot stand Alex Jones for example, mostly because of his disgusting comments about Sandyhook and what he said after the Manchester bomb over here, add to that his other general conspiracy shite and Trump support. But there is an argument to say you’re damned if you do and damned of you don’t now, in that, if you suppress them, it gives them the conspiracy angle of they’re being targeted and hard done to because they’re exposing something that’s true.

Maybe he does then go away eventually and hopefully that would be the case.

Also...As a rule of thumb I always try to listen to those I disagree with the most, if anything, it strengthens my positions and ideas.

For that reason, part of me does respect Rogan for keeping it open but then again, you’re probably right that he’s keeping everyone and anyone as a customer, in doing maximising his own bank balance and influence.

I do like the fact he admitted he does like some of these people, despite completely disagreeing with them.

A call to violence isn’t freedom of speech, it’s illegal.
That was my point. Clear evidence of sedition which carries a maximum of 20 years in prison. If Trump says the same after 20 Jan he should be prosecuted as well. I suspect he’ll get away with it up until then due to presidential immunity.

Yeah I was agreeing with you.

It’s a farce if he does get away with it.

If you arrest that fucking idiot for sedition you make him a martyr/hero and create the possibility of real chaos. These are all last acts of desperate men before the inevitable. On 1/21 everything changes and the military/bureaucratic infrastructure — who will be relieved x 100 to be rid of Trump — is under Biden’s control. The narrative on the right shifts from support Trump to attack Biden for four years. Let these traitors to America say what they want now. They can’t do anything about it, and no one is going to — like almost everything else, people would rather complain and bitch and moan than do anything, and anything Trump’s cult could do violence-wise will be a small group of fanatics, not the well-off, not the middle class, not those with anything to lose and not those who can’t afford financially to give up their lives to become revolutionaries.

So here’s a guy who agrees with some of you, and I get it. But I don’t. Those who refuse to certify the electors are doing so in preparation for the post-Trump power vacuum. They want the support of the constituency who won’t have Trump to vote for, and they believe this will prove their bonafides. What it’s actually probably going to do is help lose them the Senate, but anyhow — that doesn’t matter to them, which is why those “safe” non-cult member Republicans like Romney and Sasse and a crony like McConnell want them to stop. McConnell’s been tossed overboard; inevitably Pence will be when he certifies the vote. The cult will shrink without power. Suffocate it. Deprive it of oxygen. There will be chances in committee and on the floor to freeze out the traitors and to form a governing coalition among Democrats and a few sane Republicans. The democracy is not at risk because the courts did their job. They aren’t going to stop doing it. The cultists have nothing.

There is more than enough evidence of lawbreaking and wrongdoing against these clowns, and they SHOULD be prosecuted in line with the law.

I understand what you’re saying but people who clearly break the law should be prosecuted or they’ll think they can do anything and get away with it. The authorities just need to make sure there can be no credible accusations of judicial bias, preferably by using a Trump appointed judge (one that is actually properly qualified with a track record of upholding the law).

I agree they SHOULD be — the question is, what’s the outcome if (1) you don’t win the case, and (2) you do win? I don’t think we know yet. Post-pandemic, when the nation is secure and operating normally, you take a flyer on the weakest and dumbest antelope in the cult herd. And you make sure your case is air-tight. You HAVE to win. It can’t look political, but it absolutely will look political. It has to come from other Republicans. Even then, the Trump cult already terms anyone against them a “RINO” so that isn’t going to matter that much either.

It’s an impossible situation. Ergo, first, get Trump through SDNY (not Federal) for a crime committed before he was President that any non-politician would also be prosecuted for.

The hunt for traitors can come later.
