2021-2022 Annual report - City post club record profits and revenues

Not got much todo today, so complained about the unfactual and lazy use of calling City 'state owned'. IIRC I complained before about this, but I couldn't find the email response/complaintID, so couldn't link to it.

It's an oft repeated trope, that is clearly embedded in journalist's and commentators heads, despite being obviously and easily provable as wrong.

HH bought Manchester City in a private capacity with his own private wealth.
Newcastle was bought by the Saudi state investment fund.
PSG was bought by the Qatar state investment fund.

It's quite simple and easy to understand the difference.
Maybe they don't like the truth getting in the way of a good story.

Genuine observation, so do not shoot me down please.

Looking on one of our clubs Twitter posts, some were claiming we set up firms and funnel money through them. Now I’d expect this would be picked up upon should it be the case with any club or company, but I don’t know.

One of the examples was our Aisan betting partner which has had Twitter for months (at least) and has 24 followers. I felt it was a bit odd when I looked.

Twitter is banned outright in quite a few Asian countries mate.
It’s as though dumb fans of other teams don’t know jack about other countries. If the betting firms Chinese, it’ll have the equivalent Chinese social media presence of FB, Twitter & instagram.
why would a Chinese (presumably exclusive) betting firm have any ’english’ presence on the web?

im sure they’d be up in arms if someone conflated, say, the 2nd home of most red shirt fans, Norway with Sweden, but they do it all the time with Abu Dhabi & Qatar, Dubai and Saudi.

dumb as.

Rabin exposed the hypocrisy, when they(the whatsapp journo mafia) first started pushing this angle that City have partners with "no online presence, so it must be dodgy". He showed past and present United commercial partners with "no online presence" also... But they aren't interested when it's United or anyone else..."They aren't dirty terrorist arabs" they probably chortle in their whatsapp groups.

The wire best series ever imo even slightly higher rated than the sopranos on IBM omar little (rip)

I did a marathon Covid inspired lockdown re-watch last year. I think it was about 70 episodes in 5 days. Tremendous show but sad reality that it based on real life in a country with more billionaires than others.

Interesting that you won’t find areas like Baltimore in Abu Dhabi, Qatar & Saudi.
