2021 Transfer Kitty

Think a "transfer kitty" doesn't really exist for us, think we will spend what we want if there are options available

But for speculation purposes I'd say that £150mil NET spend is probably the max what we will see

I'm theory a lot depends on Haaland and our striker search, if he comes this summer we may exceed that and if he doesn't can see the club not signng a natural striker so we can go for him when his release clause activates

Outgoings from loan army
Harrison- £11mil
Braaf - £9mil
Herrera - £15mil
Porro - £9mil
Nmecha - £5mil
Itakura, Roberts, Moreno, Ilic, Meshino - £10mil(ish) total

There is about £60mil in return not counting any sell on fee we will receive if Sancho leaves this summer which is likely, there is another £12mil

Haaland, Grealish and a new DM (if Dinho doesn't renew) seem our priorities
Forgetting Angelino £16m which is part of this year's tranfer kitty

Not sure we can really have any idea So many variables new sponsorship deals? Etihad getting replaced ? Player sales those mentioned plus maybe be some shocks ? Also will we keep Herrera Players released Fernandinho ?

I would point out that players are not actually off the books in amortization terms just what left after new deals after players have been here a while is amortized over the length of the new contract and is in affect negligible though we do have a lot of amortization on the books I believe also high wages right now

Did the owner say we would make a profit this year ? What was the comment about an average 60 million loss over the two Covid years ? How does that fit with what will only be a small profit but last years massive loss ?

Not sure winning help that much short term it leads to massive bonuses for little extra reward what matters is it’s long term impact of sponsorship and to an extent broadcast revenue ticket sales and merchandise sales

Total = £1.458 Bn

Figures are from UEFA published payment reports and Premier League website rounded up to nearest million. Champs League money converted using average exchange rate from Euro for given year.

Don't have the figures for League Cup and FA cup but they are relatively small by comparison, as a maximum over the last 10yrs maybe £8m total.

Group stage - €15mil + €2.7m per win and €0.9m per draw
Last 16 - €9.5mil
Quarters - €10.5mil
Semi - €12mil
Final - €15mil
Winner - €4mil.

So in terms of 'prize money', we have earnt €76.4mil after 5W and 1D in the group, so if we win we win the final we get €80.4mil

Last season we would've made €47.6mil, so we are already about €30mil up from last year, or £25mil converted

Where it gets tricky is the coefficient ranking
All 32 teams get €1.108mil depending on how they rank in the coefficient table, based off of 10 years of history in the champions league

Last year we were 10th in the table, so made €25.5mil (so €73.1mil inc prize money)

We are going to move above Porto and move up to 9th after this year's performance, but may even get 8th if we win it, but for now let's say we are 9th, we get €26.6mil

TV pool also influences it, given Liverpool won the league last year, we are actually going to get less from TV pool then last year, €17mil estimated against €22mil last year (depends on countries independent TV deals, but its 40/30/20/10 split for 1st/2nd/3rd/4th of the previous season)

So a breakdown(2020 vs 2021)
Prize money: €47.6m, €76.4m
Coefficient: €25.5m, €26.6m
TV pool: €22.0m, €17.0m
Total: €95.1m, €120m
Total £: £82.7m, £104.5m

So we are going to make £21.8mil from this years performance against last years, us and additional €5.1(£4.4m) if we win it, so £26.2mil additional

Next year we potentially lose Mendy, Silva, Walker, Laporte and Edderson off the Amortisation books as well...substantial...
That would be great but according to spotrac.com:

Mendy: is on a 6 year contract starting 2017-18 and ending 22-23. So according to them, 2 more seasons before he is off the books. However, several newspapers reported his initial contract as lasting 5 years.

Silva: signed a 5 year contract in 2017 which would have taken him to 21-22 but signed a new 6 year contract in 2019. That will have reduced the yearly amortisation charge from 2019-20 but will not be off the books until 2025.

Walker: signed a 5 year contract from 2017 (also due to end 2022) but new 5 year contract signed in 2019. Will be on the books until 2024.

Laporte: Initial 5.5 year contract from Jan 2018. 6.5 yr contract in Feb 2019. Off books end of 2024-25 season

Ederson: On a 5 year contract 2017-18, which should end next year. However, it was widely reported that he signed a 7 year extension during his first season at City and that he is contracted until 2025.

Looks like yearly amortisation savings have been made by contract extensions but that none of these will be ending next year.
