2022/23 Seasoncard Automatic Update Google Pay

This is all very odd to me.

I deferred last season, the year before that I had a tangible bit of plastic I could place in front of the card reader, like the umpteen years before that, and I would gain entry. Simples.

I read the stuff from City before agreeing to renew and I remember them saying I would receive an E-mail from the ticket office which would explain how my ticket would be placed on my phone.

Is it an app I just download and everying works just fine, or should I be a little less naive and expect a host of problems?

I also take it I can't just buy a hot dog with my debit card now, with all this google wallet nonesense.

Any advice will be appreciated.

A lot of us were in the same boat last season when the transfer to digital took place. First, the situation is a bit different depending on whether you have an iPhone or an Android one. I can only speak for Android though the general principle is the same.

Firstly you need an app to store your seasoncard in. For Android this is called Google Wallet and you can download it from Google Play store. Once you have that you have somewhere for the seasoncard to go when it downloads. It sounds as if they're going to send an email with a link in it and the link should send your seasoncard straight into your wallet.

Hopefully somebody posts the process and what app you need for iPhone. Good luck.

Sorry forgot to mention re your point about debit card...Google wallet has nothing to do with the ability to make debit card payments except that you can download your debit or credit card to Google wallet and use it to pay for stuff (useful if you forget your card). Inside the ground they no longer take cash so you've got to use a card. I imagine outside the ground it'll be cash or card.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm not at all tech savy these days and find a lot of it very confusing so your response is very helpful. I think the club said I'll receive the E-mail about a week before the season starts.

I also deferred last year so this is my first time with the digital tickets. Hopefully any issues were identified last year and we will all be fine.
I received an email this week with a link to click. The linked opened up the pass in my Google wallet.

Real easy. But if the email does not come then there is an option when you log in to the ticketing website to go to your profile, to season tickets, tick your ticket and click a button for the download.

For those experienced with digital last year I have a question. Can you have multiple season cards in your wallet? My dad will be transferring his ticket to my son for some games. But he doesn't have a phone. So I'd need it transferring to my phone so I could let us both in.

Or can you request a print at home ticket for single matches?

City sent an email a few days ago on instructions.

Log in your account , go to season cards, click a box so it has a tick against your season card, then choose ‘add to mobile wallet’. It activates immediately.

Hopefully this isn’t a stupid question. I used print at home last season, being wary of the technology. This year I’ve decided not to be a wuss and have the seasoncard in my Apple wallet.

It’s showing for the Bournemouth match but I’ve noticed no QR code like there was on print at home. I presume the technology negates the need for this?

On android you have the "show code" option as well. I've needed this every game as the NFC never seems to work.

No problem with multiple cards, I have mine and my sons in my wallet, both updated today

Not a stupid question what so ever!

If your ST is on an iPhone, you can click on the 3 dots on the top right of the ticket & it takes you to another page where you can locate the QR code when you scroll down.

Hopefully the NFC gates do their job otherwise good to know should you need to manually retrieve your QR code.
