World Cup Fixtures: Day 4 - Tuesday 18th October

7:05pm BBC THREE | BBC iPlayer

Group D
7:30pm Tonga v Papua New Guinea
TW Stadium, St Helens

Tie of the first round of games this. PNG are a proper outfit these days, the only country in the world where Rugby League is the national sport, and they beat Great Britain the other year and Fiji this year. Plus Tonga have to be one of the favourites for the whole tournament, they’ve beaten Great Britain, New Zealand and Australia in the last few years.

Found this Tonga / PNG game by accident, but really enjoying the way the Tonga team move the ball about. Excellent stuff.

PNG should have gone 6-10 (with a chance for 12) up but they bombed a try with the winger putting his foot in touch when you could have fitted a tank in the gap to score.

Tonga are a great side.

England will play one of these in the Quarter Final. If we win the group (which is likely) we’ll play the second placed team from this group (likely PNG)… that would mean Tonga would likely face Samoa.

Tonga gonna be my No 2 team from now on for this competition!

Fabulous stuff. Some of that ball handling, the reverse passes, the offloads from Tonga, were sensational.
