2022 World Cup Discussion

Not sure if it has already been said but for the Wales v USA match on ITV the co commentator sounded remarkably like the comedian Rhod Gilbert.
I can see(hear) that. It was John Hartson.

Rhod was diagnosed with cancer about 6 months back and asked for privacy whilst he took battle with it.

Qatar has the 'North Field', the world's largest underwater gas field, which Qatar shares with Iran. The gas field holds approximately 10 per cent of the world's known natural gas reserves. Oil and gas have made the 50-year-old country fantastically wealthy and influential.

zero brain cells - obey citizens

Paints a pretty grim fan experience tbh...

A police insider from Qatar opened up on the strict laws in the country which are also in place for the FIFA World Cup 2022 and asserted that the fans should prepare to face some tough times ahead. The officer said sex is essentially banned unless you are married to your partner and that there will not be any drink or party culture after the matches.
“S*x is very much off the menu, unless you are coming as a husband and wife team.

There definitely will be no one-night stand at this tournament. There will be no partying at all really. Everyone needs to keep their heads about them, unless they want to risk being stuck in prison. There is essentially a s*x ban in place at this year’s World Cup for the first time ever. Fans need to be prepared," the police insider told Daily Star.

“The drink and party culture after games, which is the norm in most places, is strictly prohibited, with very strict and scary consequences if you are caught. There is a feeling that this could be a very bad tournament indeed for fans," he added.

Please note this is from a June article but if it is as the officer says that sucks a bit. The sex bit seems harsh but thats their laws, the celebrating after part seems a bit of a buzz kill though.

I know some lads who’ve been there about four days and have been on the piss virtually the whole time. Hotels happily serving them for as long as they want to drink.

Couple of my friends are out there and are saying similar.

“There has been much reported about Qatar and the decision to award them the World Cup and I'm sure there is a lot of truth in what has been reported. It's not a place we would ever have chosen to visit under any other circumstances. However, my experience exceeded my expectations. Every single person we encountered, without exception, was polite, friendly, helpful and respectful. The transport and organisation of the events was outstanding. I won't be returning, but it's been a real experience. And to see a very proud Welshman who has waited a lifetime to watch his country in a major tournament realise his dream- well it doesn't get much better than that. Cymru am byth ❤️❤️
