Problem with that is that assistant referee's are told not to flag especially in tight calls to allow subsequent action to develop naturally. So on those close calls they really shouldn't be flagging anyway.As much as I'm a fan of how this technology has sped up the decision-making, I agree the lack of tolerance is quite jarring. I get that offside is offside and they are playing to the letter of the law, but I worry that the level of precision is going to stop strikers from gambling and playing on the shoulder of the defender which will ultimately lead to fewer goals.
I've always thought they need to build in a margin of error to make it feel more human, like they do with umpire's call in cricket - e.g. if the linesman doesn't flag and the player is within a 10cm margin of error then they stick with the on-field decision.
