2022 World Cup Discussion

Just reading the quataris are now banning beer from the stadiums two days before kick off despite signing a massive sponsor deal with Budweiser, haha.

Luckily though for thirsty footy fans you can still get a beer in a dedicated fan park at only 12 quid a pint. You’re only allowed four pints and then get sent to a special ‘sobering up prison camp’ - sorry, I mean ‘sober area’.

Who in their right mind is going to these games?!

£12 a pint at the stadiums for Budseiser as well!

I might have had a bit more enthusiasm if it was in the summer - when a world Cup should be.

I'll probs watch England and follow our City lads if they are playing. Apart from that the premier league can't return quick enough.

Read somewhere that they have sold 97% of tickets for the group games. I find that very hard to believe.

How is that a surprise?
I’m surprised it’s not completely sold out, I would have considered going if Scotland qualified. From a purely footballing perspective it is one of the best World Cup for someone who loves watching football, with the stadiums so close and if money wasn’t a problem you could go to 4 matches a day in different stadiums.

It's a ridiculous place to be holding a World Cup, no doubt about that.

But it's hardly Qatar's fault that the £ to $ exchange rate is so shit these days. And it's 4 pints at a time, not in total.

The stadiums are not close. They will fly all fans in on every matchday because they barely have the hotels and infrastructure to home the FIFA ans sponosring crowd. Most teams are spread all over Arabia peninsula as are fans. The traffic jams at the airports will be huge. You doin't want to stay in town before and after the matches either. So you're hours of boring travelling and queing up for hours to see a match. It will be a real mess.

I would have made it work, brought a tent, factor 50 suncream, a few bottles of fairy liquid for the fountains, a bottle of whisky and a weeks supply of Tennents.

All 8 stadiums are within 50 miles of each other so I doubt fans will be flying to stadiums once they arrive in Qatar
