He didn’t with Sané and Sterling back in the days either. Who knows why

Pep would do it from time to time, but mainly it was because Sané was better on the left. With his pace and good crossing ability, Silva was the link that found him space to whip in a cross. If he was on the right (especially with Mendy out most of the time) there was no one else who could provide that width on the left. TBF we are struggling with that now, but when Phil plays he can at least provide some with by staying wide or making runs to the byline and crossing similarly to what Kev does on the right.
