The last excuse he's really got left is that he's not had a preseason to get his form up. That's it really. Even then you'd hope to see some signs of his left foot whipping in a cross, or a bit of dynamism to allow for the rustiness. But we've had nowt in these games so far. I feel for him as injuries can ruin a career unexpectedly, but he really is running on fumes now in the excuses tank. I've defended him absolutely loads but I'm struggling now.
He’s shite now, nothing more nothing less. He will never get it back, the injuries have turned him into a pub league player.

The challenge he made that got him injured that first time was the most unnecessary challenge too. In many ways it was classic Mendy.

It was V Palace and I watched it in a bar in Turkey. Fucking brain-dead doesn’t come close

That said, we do have a seemingly bad habit of asking players to run these injuries off and then asking them to walk of the pitch rather than be stretched off. Mendy at least once, Gundogen and Aguero V Burnley last season m. Not to mention Jesus and Stones who both finished the game on Monday but were not available for selection today - all very odd

He is never going to get back to the standard he was at Monaco , probably the best left back in europe at the time and well worth the £50m , but injuries and hte intensity of the Premier league is making him look a shadow of that player
Would rather have Ake at left back , a proper defender than a liability like Mendy , cut our losses and get shut.

. Mendys just not got it, shadow of the player who played against us for Monaco.

I actually feel for him because he has clearly suffered from the injuries - self inflicted as some are suggesting or not.

The fact that he cannot deliver what was/is expected now is clearly plain to see, and that is why he needs to be replaced.

The club needs to take the initiative now and replace him as he will never ,as far as I can see, be what we were hoping for when we bought him.

Utter bullshit. He was incredibly exciting when he joined. I get people don't like him now, as he does look shite, but the revisionism just isn't needed. In his first few games he grabbed loads of assists, bombed forward loads with pace and actually beat people. He was mega useful going forwards and actually had pace too. Injuries have ruined him but I'm so tired of all this nonsense about him always being crap. It's just bollocks.

How many games did he play before his injury? Did he lose his ability to control a ball, positional sense and skill? Or was it just his athleticism meaning his crosses have basically stopped? Also, his pace defensively was always a bit of a myth as it took him about 10 yards to get turned and sprinting (like Yaya with about a 10th of the ability).

The first injury he got after half dozen games fcukered him up he is cared to make contact and runs in treacle. How long is just contract left to go!? Because we ain’t getting tuppence for him.

2023. Still some way to go.

He was pretty much a left-sided version of Walker. Awesome athlete, good defender but so-so in attack.

He was a great signing given his relatively low fee.
Exactly, a left sided Walker would be glorious. Could either free up Cancelo on the right to attack and rotate Kyle, or have the wingers stretch the pitch again unleashing Kev and Phil/Bernie through the middle.

As for Mendy, sorry, but I rather not watch him ever try to compete at this level ever again
