Blasting in aimless crosses still, no defending to do , difficult to get any impression

Would you rather he floated one in for the inevitable single player we will have in the box to compete against the 6 defenders surrounding him only for the keeper to claim with ease anyway?

His crossing is erratic at times which includes overhitting them when more finesse would be a better bet but he generally puts in a number of good balls per game that should be pounced upon but never are.

Mendy was good tonight, all threat down the left ended when zinchenko replaced him.

Just blasting it when we dont play that way seems a bit pointless to me , he is obviously not going to get any better at that , i would sell him

Thought he played quite well tonight. Hopefully he can get a run of games under his belt now.

He obviously could do with controlling it a tad better, but the reason he blasts it is to ensure that it gets into the middle and more difficult to defend. His crosses, high or low, almost always beat the first man. Which is something most of our other players struggle with unless they overhit it.

It's worth noting that it's his first game back in a while. Yes we've been here before 100 times but it's still true.

He did play better today but he has a habit of looking alright for a few games, playing well for a couple and then having an absolute nightmare.

I do hope he succeeds though as I do think he tries when he plays.

His crossing was good today. About 4 got through to their man, which in the modern game, with a side out height is very good going. He also had some brilliant disguised pullbacks which lead to dangerous shots by Foden.

You went off on one in the match thread about a cross where Mendy fizzed in a ball meant for Sterling and Foden who was about 6 yards closer to Mendy tried to take it himself and failed. A lot of people saw that in the match thread as well as the players on the pitch, so I personally don't have much faith in you ability to judge crosses.

Thought he had a good game and delivered some good and some poor crosses but seeming it was his first game back I think he did well. We definitely look more attacking with him in the side.

I know you have chosen the mendy hill to die on but dont expect me to agree

Define off on one ? What did i say ?

Thought he looked okay last night albeit against a poor team. There is a player there, just wish he could use his right foot even a little

decent performance, but we never first time the cross into the net and always try to take the first touch.

That's on the rest of our players though, good performance from Mendy though as you said.

Should have gotten atleast 1 assist from all those chances created, and intercepted alot of balls as well.

Seems like some of the players aren't quick enough to react to his fast crosses, but by product of being fast he gets it to his man and makes it difficult for the opposition each time. Once it clicks for the players on how to score them, and if Mendy can stay fit (I know...) then goals will poar in from the left side.

Theres about 2-3 crosses in there where he's aiming for the second City player in the middle of the box and Foden or Bernardo tries to take it ahead of its intended recipient and cocks it up. 2.05 is the worst, Sterling would have had a massive chance to score if the ball had made it to him.

When they play more with him they will let those go past him and it would have been another 3 shots from 10 yards out.

What I really liked was how often he won the ball back high up, and he seemed pretty fit as well, he was bombing up and down that flank all game.

Fingers crossed he stays injury free.
