I would be amazed if we got anything more than a loan where we pay half his wages. I cant see anyone parting with serious cash for someone with his injury record, especially in the current COVID climate.
It’s also a World Cup year in 2022. So Mendy needs to be playing football, which works in our favour, He either stays and doesn’t play, then misses out on World Cup place, or he goes, but on our terms.

not being in the squad - despite a makeshift lb and a Rb playing in his position - says it all really

was supportive of him as with all city players- but his career has been wasted unfortunately at City. Hope there is a solution in the summer
Pep gave him loads of chances last season. This season Pep has been banging on about "eliminating mistakes" from the team, and unfortunately Mendy is our most error-prone defender.

Right up there with our very worst signings, although in mitigation it never seemed so at the time.

His contract is up next season,so he'll be gone on a free i suspect.

Would Bielsa take him at Leeds? Mendy played under him at Marseille...
We’ve already targeted Romain Perraud for LB next season. Given how Mendy is a closet Leeds fan judging from his tweets I’d certainly welcome him though.

The only good thing to come from this signing is the change in roles for Zin @ Cancelo. Injuries have wrecked his time here. Unfortunate but best for both to part ways. Hopefully he can kick on at another club and we free up a slot in the squad.

I don't think he's finished at all. If Stones could come back why not him then?
He has to follow his example and work hard. He is the victim of Pep new system and also of Cancelo explosion

I'm gonna try to explain myself. Cancelo is out most important fullback for many reasons and he is the first name Pep puts on the game sheet. If Cancelo is on the right , Pep will play Zinchenko on the left to have a defensive balance( Zinnie doesn't play as high as Mendy, actually Zinnie plays Left back and midfielder, Mendy plays left back and winger)

If Cancelo plays on the left , Pep will play Walker on the right for the same reasons. If there was no Cancelo, Pep would be happy to use Mendy to have this offensive threat.

The challenge for Mendy now is to learn how to play as a midfielder and left back in the same time. With work he can do it and if he can combine the 3 fonctions in the same time like Cancelo(left back, winger and midfielder) then he will have his chance.

Mendy is poor with and without the ball, has had previous for not being professional and has had bad injuries.

I admire your belief, but feel it is ill informed.

IMO, Mendy is finished, and will be off as soon as he can be shifted

Don’t think the World Cup side of it will make any odds to anyone to be honest.

PSG interested apparently, lol. Smacks of a leak from our side to drum up interest, I fear we are wasting our time...

agree seems every players a club wants out there team is linked to PSG. Think best we can do is loan him out somewhere and pay half his wages at least.

There was a Leeds mention too due to relationship with Bielsa. I could see a loan there happening maybe.

So long as we don't put in an obligation to buy for peanuts.

One good, relatively injury season on loan and we could recoup at least 20 million of his buy price IMO.

His contract is up in 2022 so I think a loan is unlikely next year. We may as well let him walk for free in summer as loan him out for 12 months beforehand.

To Mendy it does.
Only if he’s high because there is absolutely no chance of him making the French World Cup squad. The lad clearly has very limited technical ability and the injuries have taken away his pace. Fair play though he’s earning a great wage and will continue to do so for 2 more years.

I'm pretty gutted how it's turned out for Mendy. I remember when he played against us for Monaco and thinking what a top player. That summer when we were in for him I was really excited about him joining.

Alas injuries and possible attitude issues have really robbed us of a great player as I believe he could have been.

Such a shame for all concerned really .

Mendy is not poor on the ball at all! You say that because you compare him with Cancelo which is by far the most technical full back in the world and with Zinchenko who is an offensive mifielder. Compare him to walker or to the others fullbacks.

You really think Marcelo Bielsa who told him once he will become the best left back in the world and Pep who wanted him absolutely would fall for someone who is poor on the ball? People are not objective with Mendy because their expectations are too high. Since the Cancelo explosion they think be so technical is the norm come on guys you can't be serious.
