He was injury prone in France as well, in the two seasons before we signed him he played 25 and 24 league games.

He was injured when we signed him, didn't play the first few games. I know its easy to say with hindsight, but I can't believe this was overlooked, and we weren't looking at other targets.

What annoyed me last game is he never won a ball, as fabs would say , the basics , he seems to have lost his bottle , i feel bad for him and for pep , stick or twist time

Pep was repeating that nathan can play in different positions and he said himself that pep has told him to practise them al l which says to me we arent buying another left back

Mendy is poor now but he isn't finished. He was quite good against Liverpool (4:0) of all teams. Looked dynamic, was retaining the ball, etc. I'm not against signing a new LB, just think that he can play much better than he did in the first games this season.

Well to be fair he will need to as his performances were nowhere near good enough.

Partly the issue for Mendy is that he plays in such an important role for us. When teams put 10 men behind the ball, we need a decent crosser to put the ball in the box to cause problems, and his crossing is dreadful beyond belief.

If he was playing for a lower mid-table, relegation team, it wouldn't be as much a problem and he'd do a job for them but right now, for City, he's about as worse an option as we could have.

Good outing today, throughout. Laporte (basically holding his hand down that left) makes him feel a lot more comfortable going forward, and he did not make any stupid tackles either. Cup game still, but a good sign. Need more of this.

Looked a lot 'looser' and more mobile, not up against the best opposition in the world but miles away from Sundays outing. Maybe hes heard of the new LB coming in and wants to raise his game.

There were a few people pointing it out at the time and they got attacked for it. I won't be surprised if a similar response greeted the scout that said "hold on a second, isn't he a weebit too injury prone for 50 million?"

It was Burnley. Can‘t wait for the next game for people to slander him again.

It is a team of game and like any player he will respond to better players around him. Total makeshift centre back pairing against Leicester compared to tonight.

Very good game with some crisp clever balls inside and good delivery. We've seen this before though, before the inevitable relapse, but we live in hope

Performance today reiterated my intuition that he'd make a great LWB still, even if he has lost a half-yard of pace.

At LB in a back 4 I think his positioning would need to improve to be effective defensively. Without the pace he needs to time everything much better than he is used to.

If he plays like a donkey, then people will inevitably comment accordingly by calling him out. That isn't slander,no one is making stuff up......he has earnt his poor reputation by continually displaying below par performances, and supporters have every right,as long a its fair and justified,to criticise and highlight such.
