Top defender , smells danger and is decent going forward , some of his defensive heading duels today were vital against Brighton ,he is like Walker can play both positions full back and centre back with ease.

We currently seem to have a group of undroppable players, and he is doing his best to cement his place amongst them. These include Rodri, Stones, Haaland, Alvarez, and Gvardiol, as things stand.

Today there was a pretty unflattering article in the Athletic (I copied and pasted the article in the Media thread since it’s behind a paywall - I won’t do it here because its so long) about City being weak defensively on the left and teams are now exploiting it to much larger degree. With the quote, “Somehow the club keep upgrading that side of their defense but get worse.” It clearly wasn’t a flattering article to Josko or Ake.

Curious what others with more tactical insight think.

Ake was one of our best players in the treble season. He was poor against Wolves but I don't agree that the left side is still a big issue for us. Let's not forget that we were relying on Mendy in the latter part of the 20/21 season!

In any case are there any available left-backs around that do a better job than Ake and/or Josko?

It's kind of sad to say considering how well he played last season but I don't see how Ake can displace him as it stands. He's been that good.

Joško is fantastic. He will be a City legend. All our problems came down our right today where Kyle looked tired.

Josko Gvardiol play the Position Left Defender
He normally play for Croatia Nationalteam as Central Defender
but He is dooing good also as Left Defender :-)
I am happy cause Sir Mansour bought Josko Gvardiol
and Manchester City playing good Soccer....

Kyle's been out of form for a while in my opinion. I thought he was really poor for England against Italy as well. He's trying to win the ball rather than stand his man up and back his pace if they try to go past him. Getting caught out being a bit gung-ho in his defending.
