Easily. He’s more talented than Akanji and dare I say Stones, and Pep’s played them there (one got MOTM in the CL final doing so and I’d argue Gvardiol is another level to even Stones with the ball at his feet). I also think he’s talented enough to play in attacking mid or left wing.If Ake were fit, would Pep push him into the Rodri role? I certainly think he could handle it.
No offence to any centre halves around world football, but he’s got too many excellent aspects to his attacking game to play centre half.
Overall I think the position he plays in for City is perfect for him. With the possession we enjoy, he gets to play as a left wing back, defensive mid, attacking mid and left winger every game.
