He was absolute crap.
Thats because of his chances created (2) as a defender, none of the other defenders made a chance. He was best City player Today by Sofascore. Interesting.
Yet another Guardiola genius idea, pay 80 odd million for a centre back and play him at left back. Almost as bad as Silva right wing and Lewis in centre mid. Absolute fuckin lunacy !That’s why you don’t play a CB as a LB
Didn't do much wrong for the goal? he was fucking miles away from the goalscrorer when he picked the ball up from a 40 yard pass, get tighter and you can win a challenge thereGvardiol had a good game. I swear some people just see highlights and make snap judgements on those alone.
He was the one and only player who was actually passing through lines today, my memory might be failing me here but I'm sure he played the ball to both foden and savinho that put them in positions to actually do something, not his fault if they don't.
Some great defending from a set piece delivery. Even the goal he didn't do much wrong, he's forced him to go down the outside that's the hardest spot to score from.
Unless you havent watch us before you are surely aware that we basically play with a back 3 with a defender in midfield somewhere when in possession and so until we can regroup and set to a back 4 that back 3 has to be narrow and tight. Gvardiol was where he should be.Didn't do much wrong for the goal? he was fucking miles away from the goalscrorer when he picked the ball up from a 40 yard pass, get tighter and you can win a challenge there
I've watched us for 50 fucking years but I know when someone is out of position to defend. Its pointless standing towards the centre if an attacker is outside and has 20 yards to himselfUnless you havent watch us before you are surely aware that we basically play with a back 3 with a defender in midfield somewhere when in possession and so until we can regroup and set to a back 4 that back 3 has to be narrow and tight. If you're saying he's out of position, then I'm not sure you do know. The furthest fullback will always tuck in, even with a flat back 4.I've watched us for 50 fucking years but I know when someone is out of position to defend. He was allowed to make the pass only because he had acres of space to play the ball. I know our full backs tuck inside but its pretty pointless when attackers are outside you, as perfectly shown for todays winning goal.If you're saying he's out of position, then I'm not sure you do know. You're giving no appreciation to the pass, he's absolutely pinged a 40 yard ball out there, it was a superb pass that's given hudson-odoi the space not gvardiols positioning. If it's a standard floated ball over, gvardiol has an extra second or two to shift over and doku probably has time to get back too.

He also successfully won all his ground duels.
Their goal is not considered an error by him (which I agree, maybe he is passive but be blocks the main angle leaving a tight shot which Ederson does poorly on).
Correct. We can't cherry pick on what he could have done or whatever. He did what he thought was best at the time, forced his man on the weaker side, and the Forrest player did well to score from a difficult angle. Questions over Ederson in this instance because he probably could have done much more.Gvardiol had a good game. I swear some people just see highlights and make snap judgements on those alone.

Yes but naturally he isn't a left back & it's clear to see, that's the point I was making.Lads I am sorry but this line of thought is just not working. Players aren't assigned positions at birth. he is a left back. he's been playing leftback for us for 2 years. That's his position. He's not "covering" at leftback. he is a leftback.
