To those who know more about the ins and outs of the rule - How's it shaping up? Who are our eight homegrown players? Who are our U21s? With the size of our squad as it is at the moment, do any players stand to miss out on the squad, especially in light of the potential arrival of Hargreaves?

And secondly, how does it work in Champs League? I've heard we have to have at least four club produced players, if so who would those be- Micah obviously but who else?

We don't have to have 4 homegrown players for CL, but if we don't we can only name 21 players if you get me.... So we have Hart and Richards for sure, so we could name 23 and leave 2 stops for homegrown players.

We need 8 players trained in England between the ages of 17-21 in the Premier League and that's covered with:

Hart
Taylor
Richards
Lescott
Barry
Milner
Johnson
Boyata

Probably a few more too.

I wouldn't worry too much, we'll be all set.

For the CL we would also have Joe Hart (He qualifies has he signed for us when he was young and is considered home grown) and SWP for the 4th we would have to pick someone from the EDS or Nedum to fill the team
For the prem we are in order as far as I see it, we have 8+ homegrown players (Trained in England) in Barry, Milner, AJ, Micah, Joe Hart, Lescott, Taylor, Clichy etc...
The 25 man squad should look like this providing we sign Hargreaves:
Joe Hart, Taylor, Costel
Micah, Zabs, Kolo, Lescott, Vinny, Kolarov, Clichy, Onuoha (?)
Barry, Nasri, AJ, Milner, De Jong, Yaya, Silva, SWP, Hargreaves
Dzeko, Kun, Tevez,
Balo and Savic are U21 and don't need to be registered
So we would still have 2 places left over

I think we'll have to, I'm sure the rules say you're not allowed to have any empty spots in the 25 if you've got enough players to fill it.

Does Hart count as homegrown for us? I'd have though he would be registered as developed by Shrewsbury?

Savic is also under 21 so that is another space.

Hopefully people finally understand when Mancini says he needs more players to fill out the squad. It isn't out of greed. We are genuinely lean. If we had 5 or so players from the EDS who could drop in and do a job from time to time we would be fine. Like United had with Welbeck, the Da Silva's etc a few years ago. And Arsenal with Frimpong, Gibbs etc. Razak perhaps, but Suarez and Rekik are still very raw.

yeh but thats because they didnt actually have enough over 21 players to fill the 25 slots. If you have 25 or more over 21s then you have to fill all 25 slots, if not then you can leave a few empty like Liverpool did

By that logic if we don't have 25 over 21s we'd have to name Bridge or Bellamy in the squad if they're still here but we won't! The 25 is a maximum not a compulsory number.

That's exactly what I'm saying, we WILL have to name Bridge or Bellamy in our 25 if they don't leave. The same situation happened last season when we had to name Logan in our 25 even though he had no chance of playing.
