It is strange to me that he became the scapegoat at half time, especially on twitter and in the match thread, because he was in no way at fault for either of the goals and in general, i thought was alright first half! thought he had an alright game overall. thought he had 1 mistake in the game which was being far too tight to kane during that perisic chance that lewis saved, but other than that i thought he was good and kept kane relatively quiet.

think he's getting a lot of stick and people are looking out to get him and i am not sure why.

I found it funny when people tried to blame him for goal caused by Eddie and Rodri

Really can't see what he's done wrong, outstanding piece of business, and with Eric,john and ruben out him and ake have done really well, I don't want ake to be lb, defensively he's ok but imo we lose offensively

I think criticism of Akanji from some on the forum is over the top. A new player joining a team playing below par. Because of Pep changing the team he’s never played in a settled back four which wouldn’t help anyone new.

He seems to get the blame when City concede goals even if it’s not his fault. (Thursday night being a prime example) He’s decent on the ball which suits a Pep team.

Many reasons why we are conceeding more goals lately. One of the main ones being us being a lot more open and a keeper not being great at making saves. (Edersons strength is also being decent on the ball)

It’s baffling, to be honest.

Only thing I can think of is that because Mahrez is now playing so well, Akanji is now the new boo-boy.

Moved it a lot quicker today, read the game and showed more aggression than usual too. He's still got this really terrible trait of allowing opponents to come in off the left flank and cut inside freely, he makes no attempt to show them outside and is never close enough to get blocks in, this has cost us multiple times already this season and needs eradicating ASAP but in general, much better.
