Poor today but a blessing in disguise him being banned next week.
Stones and Dias v RAGS
I’m still of the opinion that Akanji is the 5th best CB at the club

He is you are right, and I’m not arsed he misses next week as Stones and Dias should be put starting CB pairing before anyone

You're correct It doesn't, It can be both, I just don't believe akanji has made a glaring error there. He's covering the pass into the guy in the middle which is his priority there, the balls gone behind him he's stretched to get something on it. It's just unfortunate in my eyes. The poor defending was walker and stones allowing the cross.
Just watched the highlights and it was indeed fuckin awful from akanji. Totally flat footed

Not having that it was a second yellow, it is a contact sport ffs , we have ruby and ake so no probs , unfortunate for him

We are reffed totally different to the red shirts , totally

Played well in the first half but, much like everyone else, was exposed in the second when the midfield ran out of steam and we decided not to make changes. For a month now, most of our domestic fare has been tackled with a makeshift midfield, and we paid the price yesterday both in terms of the goal conceded and his red card. The silver lining is that Stones’ and Rodri’s lungs will have been well stretched, and we‘ll benefit from that in the coming weeks.

He looks as though he’s ”on his heels” because his body weight is on his left side anticipating the ball going there.

Therefore he can’t move to his left nor get any power on the ball.

So my only question would be whether his weight should have been where it was. I don’t see it as a glaring error.

It was the same at Wolves. Both crosses got deflections. It’s impossible to guess where the ball is going every time.

As good as Akanji is , he isnt at Dias's level and never will be , not sure why Dias was on the bench against Brighton maybe carrying a knock , but if they are both 100% fit , its Dias and Stones at the back for me.
I don't think Ruben had been rotated so far, he'd played internationals in the last week, and we have CL midweek, and united next week, so that'd be why there was a change.
