It hasnt worked all season but Pep keeps with it. Hes awful at it. drop walker, play Rico inverted next to Rodri and have Akanji cover the right defence. A role he is best suited to.

I thought Pep found his solution v Leipzig with Rico there but hes reverted back to Akanji and its giving up midfield

yeah I wrote some weeks ago that he should play the outside role like he did last season. for me, akanji somehow lacks any presence. we need stability in the center. gvardiol/ake and ruben should play. then you have ake or akanji as makeshift lb, stones as cb/rb/cm

How on earth does this absolute liability on the ball, manage to have the ball so often?

Terrible on the ball, terrible in the tackle, and should be nothing more than a squad player. Was bought as a 5th choice centre half and has wormed his way into the central midfield of a treble winning side. Crazy.
 
Not suited to the role he’s being asked to play but Pep keeps picking him there.
