Ive said it since the day he got here, hes just a weak person. He went through a spell where he seemed frightened of even heading the ball.

For a lad the size he is, he has never once bullied a player.

What a stupid post.

Akanji's been our most consistent defender in the last 2 seasons, in which we won the Treble and 4 in a row.

Weak persons are looking for scapegoats.

Bollocks. He's fine when he's got Rodri in front, Dias by his side and the team going out and dominating. He's not alone but he's especially prone to go missing and today he pulled out of several challenges, maybe he's still injured.

Unlike Stones and Ake, who are often missing, Akanji has been available almost always. He has probably played more minutes than any other defender in our most successful period ever. CB, LB against Madrid, RB against Bayern, etc.

Our least problem. The problem, ironically, are both crowd favourites, who can't stay fit and force Pep to overplay the other defenders.

I haven't denied any of those things. His availability doesn't change him as a person.

Weak persons don't succeed at that level. Akanji's been our most played defender in our most successful period. One must be a bit silly to believe a weak person could do that. They are all top athletes and strong personalities. Our success would have be impossible with weak persons.

Well I've watched him since he arrived and he's nowhere near the likes of Dias in terms of strength and mentality.

He regularly will bottle physical battles, doesn't take away from other parts of his game.

The fact the has been first choice through the recent shit show, just shows how much Rodders Dias and Kyle (before he stopped running), covered for him.
A bargain buy without a doubt, but just not good enough on his own.

You are making the mistake to treat Akanji's form as largely identical since his arrival, and then use this as evidence that he hasn't been all that.

He isn't in form. Also, he missed 2 from the 4 defeats prior to Spurs due to not being fit. He could have been fit if he had more rest. But Pep couldn't rotate him as Stones and Ake are barely available. BTW, Stones was shit today, too. Was it because Rodri couldn't help him?

I think Akanji is our worst central back. I agree with the posts that he is mentally prone to panicking. The last 3 of the 4 goals conceded against Spurs he should share the blame. He played the second goal on side while the backline was obviously pushing for offside. He tend to hide when the back line is under high press.

He's just wants out

Compare and talk about past 18 months all you want but the truth is he’s playing like he can’t be arsed no more, so whatever he’s been like in last 18 months is irrelevant to how he’s playing now, fucking crap

His body language
He's a 14m CB that has gone to feature in our side as a automatic choice, incredible effort.

Amazing that people like Grealish, Phillips and Foden get such an easy ride.

Ederson another who has been a magnificent part of this club for the last 7 seasons, yet people on here talk about him as if he is some second rate player, fucking strange and very wrong.

There was an action in the 2nd half (3-0 at the time) where he played a nothing ball into the midfield and they ended up having a shot from long-range that went wide. The camera panned to Akanji and he looked like he had the world on his shoulders. I don’t know what is wrong with him but he doesn’t look happy at all. Someone give him a maths exam to cheer him up.

Get him on the numbers section on Countdown, might cheer him up a bit.

Joking apart though it's a trend that is running entirely through the team, worrying this, feel like I'm back in the 90's now.

Just watched the highlights. First goal he just stands and watches after Gvardiol’s poor pass, makes no real effort to get back. Second goal he is marking Jimenez but just gives up and lets him score a tap in on the line. Third goal he’s out of position for the initial pass and then makes no effort to get back after that.
