Other than show some sublime skill and touch from the corner before putting in a great cross that was cleared straight to foden leading to the 1st goal, scoring an absolute world class goal and providing a magnificent incisive pass into Jesus setting up Bernardo‘s goal what did mahrez actually do? Honestly the Fact some people still feel the need to critic him is hilarious. Maybe just maybe you don’t like him.

Mahrez is all about creating chances, and doing flashy goals, if those come off (like today) then it's "Great game, well done Riyad" but outside of that his work rate isn't great, and he tends to be greedy too often, which if he scores then great, but when he doesn't, then it isn't great.

If you think about his goals, they are all flashy, I rarely see a team goal with Mahrez on the end, he doesn't have that positioning that Sterling or Gundogan have.

His creating was also good today, and sometimes I think he doesn't get credit for his passing ability, but again, there are times when he should pass that he doesn't.

It's been like this for a while, has great games, then other games where the FFS comes out. If the ratio of Great:FFS could be higher, then he will validate his squad spot in the future.

Balls out of the sky for me he's the best in the world at it, amazing how he has instant control.
He’s truly amazing at plucking balls out of the sky and his first touch is normally spot on - this doesn’t win games though.

Goals like tonight’s win games.

We need him to put in that second half performance week in week out. Far too often he goes missing/seems aloof/doesn’t consistently put the work in, and while that’s the case he’ll be criticised on here and elsewhere.

I don’t personally think he gets in our first 11 if everyone is fit - however, credit where it’s due, if he can put that 2nd half performance together consistently, he’ll make it hard for anyone to deny him.

You hade going for a second. Lol. Thank God I didn't rush to reply :)

Motm? No,that was a daft pick. But definitely one of his better performances and obviously a big reason we got the 3 points.

He had an appetite last night and it showed in his all round game,he even got stuck in on occasion......Well done Mahrez.

If his work rate was poor he would be nowhere near this team. Have you not watched us lol. This is Pep Guardiola, he doesn’t tolerate laziness.

Thought he was excellent today but then I think he’s been excellent all season.

Won’t get on the bandwagon of popping off at him because it’s the in thing.

I went on and on about Gundogan last season and the quality he has, whilst 80% of the forum argued otherwise. With that one I think I can safely rest my case.

Riyad is just the boo boy for many on here and I really don’t know why, he’s a quality footballer.

His work rate is poor relative to our standards, we have alot of machines on the pitch and he is the weakest part. I think he would probably thrive in other teams more, not that he doesn't have great games for us.

You must not see my comments (there are alot of people on here thats fine, doesn't hurt my feelings...) but I've been one of the biggest Gundogan supporters on here lol.

He's not a boo boy for me (like people have done to Rodri or Gundogan). For me it's the fact that it's been what 2 years now, and he doesn't quite fit like the rest, like something's off, many others notice it too. This is the player he is, and it's fine when he plays like this, but when he doesn't then its a detriment.

I'm not really on the "sell him" train that much, I'm more indifferent, which probably isn't the right feeling to have about one of our players.

Only fair I pay him his dues.

Thought he was poor first half and mentioned it in the match thread, much much better 2nd half though, that's what he's capable of.

Consistency is his biggest issue.
Wasn’t even poor in the first half though
