Most enjoyable performance I've seen from Mahrez in awhile. Hopefully, he can carry on with this form.

did he score? did he assist? did he do anything of notable contribution to win us that game?

Nope.

Southampton at home is his level when he can play up against a cumbersome CB playing out of position, show off and score a couple of tidy goals.

Until he does it in big games on a regular basis he'll always get this stick.

I think there were a bit better than tidy goals.

He has previously excelled when playing against a defender that he can make commit themselves. When he can’t he is less effective and can’t defend which kills his contribution.

When I compare him to the previous version of Mahrez I’d say he has become a better manager of the ball and has improved his distribution and decision making particularly when dinking the ball into the area. Hopefully he can continue to build on this but small shoots and all that.

He's playing as well as he ever has in a City shirt.

Still 90% certain the club will sell him in the summer, and if they are, he's certainly making it easier and hopefully will help us to some trophies before he goes.

I was critical of his goal contributions earlier in the season and rightly so, a player with Riyad's ability should be piling on the numbers in this team. It's great to see him finally find the run of form that he's capable of and that he was bought for, been superb in 2021.

He is quality when inside the box and doesn't panic, sometimes he has an off day but who doesn't. Overall I think he was a decent buy and has excellent first touch and technique.

Bit confused as to why you think we would sell our best winger on current form. Pep clearly is happy with his output at the moment with mahrez starting almost every game. Seems a bit foolish to sell him leaving us with Sterling, Torres and foden for the wide positions

He is 30 years old so its the last chance to get good money for him. He is on stupidly high wages, his current form doesn't excuse the fact he's been poor for the rest of the season and he only plays in 1 position - the position that Lionel Messi will take.

Messi can't play every game but given Bernado will likely find his way back to the RW when both he and KDB are in top form, and Ferran Torres is one of the biggest prospects in world football, and Jesus will probably play wide more often and Sterling can play there... what's the point in keeping him?

If the Messi move falls through he will probably stay.
