#26 | Riyad Mahrez - 2020/21 Performances

Imo mahrez has been our best winger this season. Only gundogan has scored more goals than him this season, he is 30 but has never relied on pace so has at least 3 years left at the top of his game. He is never injured, pep trusts him hence why he always starts in big games, his ball retention is fantastic, his first touch is the best in world football, his finishing is good and now his work rate is where it should be. It would be extremely foolish and short sighted to sell one of our better players. If we get Messi great but it should not be at the expense of mahrez
Totally agree.
Mahrez right wing and Foden left for the big games for me.

Did de Bruyne? did Foden? did Sterling? did Gündogan?

Nope.

I guess this means they are all frauds and Southampton is their level...
de Bruyne and Sterling got rightly called out for their performances, Gundogan gets a pass for carrying us on attacking wise on our winning run.

Foden didn't even get a fair crack of the whip so don't know why you brought him into it.

Oh my god you don't get it ffs.

You are saying Mahrez isn't good enough and is Southampton level because he didn't score or assist vs United.
NO ONE DID.
So by your own obviously flawed logic, everyone who played against United is Southampton level.

Foden had a HUGE chance vs them lot which he sliced wide.
If it was Mahrez you'd be saying how he should be playing in the Championship ffs.

If it keeps you frothing at the fanny then yes, he is.

I said the same the other day. He’s keeping his value high at the minute which is good for any plans the club have. If Messi comes available, Mahrez will leave I think. There will be no shortage of clubs wanting to shell out £30m-£40m this summer.

Only a £20m to £30m loss on him then... Great success if we do it :(

We should never have paid £60m for him, but let's face it... he didn't set the fee!

City generally don't buy (first team) players for sell on value. Especially players we bring in at 27+.
It's a catch-22, if they are good enough to sell for a profit then they will likely stay until they are older and less valuable. Otherwise they aren't good enough and their value decreases.
Fernandinho and Agüero are going to make City a 100% loss on both but no body minds.

This is the reason we need to buy and sell CFG players for profit.

Leicester fan here so obviously biased, however I can't help but shake my head at some of the posters who set their mind a long time ago and want him gone no matter what, @PannickAtTheDisco taking the cake by a country mile. We had and still have some of these in our ranks.

No point pretending to recognize his current form just just to take a snarky dig at him or saying that he's playing for a move which would sky-rocket his value, opening the doors to Messi for example. I for one, think that Messi ain't going anywhere, his fate is tied to Barca for the better or the worse. Even then, one must be deluded to think that Messi could be deployed as a right winger like he still was 20 years old.

You're playing beautiful football, have one of the greatest managers ever and I really wish that you'll finally win the CL. But it's quite sad to see some so deeply entrenched in their beliefs that they can't even appreciate one of the most gifted players in the league, playing for them, finally reaching his 2015/16 level again and helping his team to clinch the title while lighting up the PL.

Enjoy him like we did, he might not be as consistent as say CR7 or Messi, but there's very few players who get you off your seat (or couch) like he does when he's on it. For all their woes, this kind of flair players don't grow up on trees.
