Overall game wasn't that great in truth, but getting a goal and an assist is a great contribution and if you're making that kind of contribution, nothing else really matters.
Hopefully that's the spark the lad needed, could see the relief in his face when he scored. I don't think anybody else in the squad scores that bar maybe Nunes. Very few have the instincts to sniff out goals. Doku and grealish wouldn't be alert enough to follow that in and if they did, doku would want to take the keeper on 6 times and grealish would find a way to get the ball back to Ortega.
Good instincts, type of goal sterling would thrive off, now he needs to do it again and again and again.
So many basics of his game that need to be improved upon and should be relatively easy to do so and once he does, we will have a beast. Biggest one from today was he loses the ball so easily because he's so weak and cannot shield the ball with his body, stick him up against Dias in training constantly and get this lad roughed up, if he can learn to bounce off checks, he has the ability to go beyond players for fun.
Peps got to start him next few games, we need at least some players in top form.

I like him he is only 20 . Salah at his age was playing for Basel scoring 7 goals a season

He had much better all-round game against Everton, but scored and assisted today so gets the plaudits for a great performance but he was actually much quieter outside his goal and assist than the general full game where he was very active and busy the other day.

Done the business today. I thought he played better against everton or at least as well as, but today the final product was there and the chances were taken (both by him and haaland).
Will be interesting to see how he plays in a more in form team

But most important thing is hopefully he's establishing some consistency. There was a period v Eferton when he ran their left flame ragged and created the opportunity to win the game. Effected the game in a different way today but again, a key contributor

He needed that goal, first ever here, well done and an assist on top. hope he gets more confidence from these. we need end product from our wingers. we need it repeatedly not jut once in while. Liverpool getting shit load of goals-assists from their wingers. our style bit different but at our best season we had great input from our wingers (or huge input from more central players which we dont have this season at all)
