"Stats" smh. There is nothing that Savinho does better than Doku.
Yes. Getting in positions to score even if savinho doesn’t score. He did in Spain while Doku never did. Not in Belgium, France and now in England. He had 7 goals/ assists when we bought him. Savinho surpassed that long ago when he was 19

I'm sorry but Savinho is not in the same tier as Doku in terms of potential. Don't need boxscore stats for that, the eye test is clear. Doku has worldclass potential, Savinho's ceiling is lower imo.

Unsure how you can say this, either could improve and become 'special', or fail to develop and be at a mid table club in a year or two. Hard to say, it's down to them.

A few years back though I really liked Allan Saint-Maximin at Newcastle - he was talented and unpredictable, I thought he could be a good wildcard for us to bring on if we needed someone to change in the game.

Clearly never happened, but Doku reminds me of him, and at the moment he's not a player I'd rely on from the start of the match.

Based solely on how they both played for City last season:

Savinho is a better crosser, passer, has a better first touch, and is better off the ball

Doku is a better dribbler, athlete, presser (certainly as of last season), and shooter (although he's also not particularly good at that, just better than Savinho)

What gives you the impression that Doku has world class potential? Genuinely interested as to how you think he could improve to be classed as one of the very best wingers in the world - on par with Salah, Vinicious or Kvara? Because I've seen little to suggest that.

He can be better than he currently is, but he's miles off world class
He needs to play more off the ball, thats it. Find himself in positions to shoot with one or two touches. Make more runs off the ball. Other than that he's got it all. A lot of it is tactical limitations, hes asked to do a specific thing and not lose the ball with too much passing or crossing unless its the final ball or from the touchline respectively.

Vinicius was worse than Doku this season btw, and Im saying this as a Madrid fan.

IMO the only attribute you can make an argument about is crossing. And even that is marginal. Not to mention Doku's weak foot crossing is much better than Savinho's so as a inverted winger this matters a lot. Also Savinho doesn't have a better first touch or passing by any means, and he also doesn't do much off the ball as hes also a ball to feet winger. He does roam a bit more in the half space instead of sticking to the baseline, but to no end really.

Also some attributes are just more important than others. Its like saying Mbappe is faster and finishes better than Bernardo Silva, but Bernardo Silva has better stamina, tracks back more and takes better corners so Bernardo Silva has 3 great attributes compared to Mbappe's 2 great attributes. Thats just not how it works.

Again I like Savinho's game, but saying hes equally as good as Doku just by counting G+A gives a very incomplete picture.

Honestly if you turn out to be right I'll bow to your foresight.

I see player who does the same trick time after time, repeatedly delays releasing the ball and who's an absolute menace to shinpads all across the land. If he's able to add Sterling's movement to his game he might become a very good asset, but that's a big if

I didn't attach any weight to any attributes, nor did I mention goals or assists. I simply disagree with your premise that there is nothing Savinho does better than Doku at this moment in time

Thats cool, we can agree to disagree. In my view peak Doku could be a driving force behind a team's attack, while peak Savinho can be a solid piece. Kind of like Vinicius and Rodrygo at Madrid.

Both deserve a place in the squad it is difficult to pick who is the better player but the player under threat to be moved on is Doku in terms of overall consistency.

Me too, Doku is allan st maxim and savinho reminds me of raphinha when he first joined leeds. Could go either way for either of them but at least one needs a big season and pressure prob more on doku given age and fact he has two pep years under his belt.

Big fan of Doku but obviously i can’t dispute he has things he needs to improve on and quite quickly if he’s going to become the player he should be here. St Maxim is a much better comparison than the previous one. People saying he’s just another Traore was unfair and also utter nonsense. Doku has more skill and talent by a mile. Traore just has great strength and a sprinters pace.

Big fan of both Savinho and Doku. Both need to improve and both have fantastic potential. I’m probably a bigger Doku fan but i think there’s more chance of Savinho going on to be the top class player. One thing that i completely disagree with you on is first touch. Savinho’s first touch is up there with any City player. He can control a ball brilliantly. Doku first touch could still do with a little improvement.

The jury is still out on both Doku and Savinho, both players can excite and frustrate in equal measures. This coming season is an important one for both players and the competition to get in the starting 11 will be fierce, both need to improve in order to get a regular place in the team.
