To his credit, Joao has improved - well, substantially improved - on defense. On offense he's deft on the ball - much better than Walker.

But he's not fantastic on offense - passes are good but not world class - shots often (nearly always?) miss - especially from range where they are most often way over the crossbar.

So... I'm not a fan. He's a decent RB on current form though I'd rather have Walker start if we need to defend.
I think this sums up his game rather well.

Ok-ish going forward, but surprisingly solid at the back.

Should keep him playing one position. His actual position where possible. He over plays it a lot but at least he has some serious offensive trickery..

Think he tried to take Wan-Bissaka on about 20times and failed everytime, doesn't hide from trying like some but comes a time to try something different. Decent otherwise

I think if you play him AND Sterling on the left then we lack the natural left footer and they both just cut in.

Maybe with Foden on the left I think it can work, but I don't like what I saw today from the combo.

More assured defensively lately, good dribbler, why can't we just have him as a wingback with Mendy.

If Pep was scared of the counter, then 352/343, might have been a good choice.

He has absolutely zero end product.

Im not talking about today, in all games.

He can look OK dribbling the ball or making a run around the box and you can see why some fans like him for his ability to occasionally beat someone 1v1 on the touch line, but when it comes time to put the ball in the box or play an incisive pass or even shoot....he just has nothing.

And his defending is piss poor. He's very lucky we didn't concede from him giving the ball to West Brom 20 yards from our goal twice.
