Just popping in to say I'm happy our Cancelo-Danilo swap deal has finally turned up to be mutually beneficial this season. I've recently read that Cancelo has been performing really well for you, while Danilo has put on another great defensive performance tonight for us. He's been a revelation as a lateral CB.
Would ye like Mendy by any chance?

Got to be honest, I thought it was a strange signing and he was underwhelming last season. Incredible this year though, can finally see why Pep spent big on him. Glad Danilo is doing well too, never really put a foot wrong or complained when he was moved about.

Out of interest, how many games did he play LB at Juventus?

Looking back at posts and see so many doubters that rejected him right away. Now practically undroppable. This is why you have to be patient, what a wonderful player he is. Has helped us tick so much and is so tactically aware, and tekky.

Same for us with Danilo really, we didn't have very high expectations for him but last season he was quite underwhelming as a fullback and he wasn't always starting.

This season though Pirlo managed to fit him well into the formation which is actually very fluid. He was first deployed as a right CB in a 3-men defense just because many players were out at the start of the season (and he filled the role surprisingly well), but when we take up a 4-at-the-back formation he obviously shifts to a fullback position. He can play on the right or on the left (he's played in both positions during the season, idk exactly how many times each) but he's more comfortable on the right. He sometimes also has the option to get more central to set up the action. The real revelation though have been his defensive skills, he's turned out to be extremely solid and dependable as a pivotal part of our defensive block.

Absolute quality. Our strikers really do ruin assist stats for our creative players...

My favourite clip is the tackle on Martial. Although his drop of the shoulder and two footed play is just ridiculous.

If we talk about pure football and not statistics or reputation , Cancelo is without a doubt one of the 10th best players in the world. Technically i don't see a lot of players better than him, he's one the best dribbler in the world and one of the best passer when we talk about "risky pass". Ha has an amazing vision almost as good as De Bruyne and defensively he is def not a joke.

He can play LB, RB, DM,LW,RW i don't see any other player in the world who can do that. He will never win the ballon d'or because he is not a big star but when we talk about technic, vision, intelligence and vista , except Messi, Neymar, Modric i don't see better players than him.

It would be interesting alright to see if Haaland (or whoever might come in) could finish off more of the chances he creates.

Maybe Aguero can too when back.
