I’m trying to think of anyone in midfield we’ve had who’s had any genuine sprinters’ pace, going back to the start of this century.

Foden when he plays there which hasn’t been often in his career… then… Yaya on his big bouncing runs forward… that’s about it!

…none of them have/had any genuine pace, some have some speed (de Bruyne) but not sprinters’ speed.
How can you forget Pizarro

Reserve my judgment as a lot harder tests to follow, plus playing alongside Rodri (he could probably make me look half decent).

However, did not look out of place at all.

Really impressive full debut. Will admit I felt he was an underwhelming signing but will be more than happy to eat my words if he can keep up this level of performance

Fitness level off the charts. He was still sprinting about the pitch in the 90th. Took two guys on to win the free kick which got us in front. A box to box type who can carry the ball. I thought he combined very well with Doku, Rodders, Alvarez, and Phil...In Pep and Txiki I trust...

Him and Doku looked like they had been playing together a long time rather it being their first game together.

Happy to have him onboard. Steady start and he has that air of quality that I expect we'll see more of as he settles in.

It'll be a 60+ game season. He'll have his time to shine.
