27 | Matheus Nunes - 2024/25

When I was a boy, maybe.

Now it's hard to get excited when players like Kalvin Phillips and Matheus Nunes come in. Especially when they're coming in to fill gaps academy players could have taken.

Not much exciting about that.
We paid more for him than we got for Palmer.
Now I'm not gonna lie and say I saw Palmer as superstar BUT anyone who saw Nunes as one needs questioning.

Like I've said on here before; I've got family who are Wolves season ticket holders and they were baffled we bought him, never mind for the money we gave .

Anyone with a level head thought the same thing. Never, ever, ever up to the standards we have set for ourselves.

But obviously the "you think you know better than Pep?!" crowd had a good time with that one.

Foresight, eh?

I would absolutely love to know how and why he was decided as a suitable player for us (especially.at the fee paid) by our Scouts and obviously the D.O.F that presumably sanctioned it. No point being angry at the Lad, he knows he isn't good enough but probably thought he would come here and win a title, wasn't going to happen at Wolves.

One of the 1st things Pep said about his new signing, was that he had to work on his 1st touch. That should have set the alarm bells ringing. He barely played him last season and it’s taken an injury crisis for him to play him this season. I don’t believe that Pep rates Nunes at all and yesterday will have cemented that.

Wolves fans were happy for amount they got for him. Ours were blinded by new toy syndrome as always calling everyone world class

Pep has made it very clear where he stands with academy players. I've given up being interested.

Nunes absolutely fucked up for their 2 goals but I thought he had done well enough prior to that. I have no idea why he was LB though - not only is it a new position but he was being asked to defend on the wrong side. Big ask.

We were interested in him before he went to Wolves, I believe. It was strange to pay that amount for someone who, by all accounts, had been pretty underwhelming in the Premier League. But ultimately, we had to give Wolves a profit if we wanted him after just a year and they paid 38 million for him in the first place. Presumably Pep (who picked him out for praise when we played Sporting) saw something he thought he could work with.

I would say he's Steve Daley mk2 for the amount paid and return we've got from Wolves for him, but Grealish already has that honour for his 3 months in 3 years.

Typical City innit.
