27 | Matheus Nunes - 2024/25

Then doesn't track the runner for the second, then doesn't bother trying to get back in the line. Genuinely about as bad a 5 minutes as is possible
The lads lower level prem player and that’s not an insult, still makes him a professional footballer but he’s not a player for a top side

He tries but he just looks like a mess whenever he goes in for a tackle, receiving the ball, trips over his own legs etc its absolutely embarrassing at this level, you are right though at least he bloody tried unlike some of our other players.

He does have qualities Nunes but he doesn't seem suited to our style of play. He's done a job this year in unfamiliar roles to be fair to him but he would be much better suited to a counter attacking side where he could sit in a midfield 3 and be mainly tasked with breaking up the pitch at speed in transition. He absolutely destroyed United at Old Trafford in that role about 2 weeks before we signed him. His first touch is lacking and our tight slow possession game highlights the worst parts of his game.

There's a good player in Nunes but he just isn't our level. Another player we've spent big on in recent season that hasn't delivered.

The next phase of recruitment has to be alot better and more planned than this. I'd rather get 4 or 5 quality players than 8 or 9 players like this.

I felt really bad for him yesterday I have to say. Thought he worked his socks off and was one of our better players but God that mistake was brutal.
Which mistake, there were two for the penalty?

Funnily enough my feeling bad is reserved for the fans who had to suffer that shitshow, not the millionaire footballer who got paid £130,000 for that display, and should have learned by now - having made mistakes and lapses in concentration every time he puts on a blue shirt - that he should fucking concentrate more

The whole teams a mess at the moment, why was Nunes even on the right wing with 3 minutes to go to make that pass back? I get what you are saying, but I post based on what I feel and my first reaction was sympathy for the lad. I don't think he's the right man for us either but he tried his heart out yesterday and I hated seeing him look so devastated after he gave that penalty away. I give more slack to an attacking midfielder playing a position he's never played before than I would to a defender aswell.

Nobody thinks Mateus is going to be our left back going forward, he was the bucket used to chuck the water out of our rapidly sinking ship. All the lads playing are fucked physically and bereft of confidence and its going to get worse before it gets better so we just need to get our big boy pants on, back the lads through this shit run and make the right decisions in the next couple of windows.

I'd also add, why did Walker play the pass to him and then run up the pitch instead of dropping back as the last line of defense?

Nunes is currently the 4th best player at City. Maybe fifth and at the worst, 6th if you count both goalies.

There aren't 4 outfield players who are currently better.

Dias, Doku, Gvardiol (barely), and then it's Nunes. That's the list. So if you want to complain, there is a growing blast of far worse players you can focus on

Doku? Do behave.
