I dont actually remember him doing anything of positive use for us which considering how bad he has been means he had a good game for some. I do remember him in the first five mins giving away a corner as he tried to cushion a header back to Ederson, in fact he has abs no awareness when it comes to back passes, it cost us the derby, it nearly cost us v brentford and it could have cost us yesterday. He cant defend either, all he can do is run around a bit and if we get the ball to his feet he can play a nice pass up the line. The one time he had to cross yesterday in the first half it was awful.

If we want to be a serious football team again, there is no place for nunes at full back. Here is a novel idea, how about getting some full backs to play full back?

I've not been a fan of Nunes at all - until recently. At RB he's actually been far better than Lewis and is pretty solid defensively.

Yes, that header back to Ederson wasn't necessary and didn't come off - so he's not perfect.

But Nunes absolutely tracks back and runs his ass off if he's out of position. And he closes the ball aggressively when warranted.

I do agree that Nunes has numerous weaknesses which means that he won't be a starter for us once we rebuild - but right now, I like Nunes at RB.

I actually agree with some of what you are saying here. I do think he is more suited to RB than Lewis currently but that said I see a future for Lewis in our squad but I dont for Nunes. He does run his ass off and works hard up and down the line will give him that. He is a big boy too so helps with some of the more physical teams, he potentially has the tools to be a competent right back but I dont think he mentally has it. I actually dont think he has the mentality to play for us in any position but thats a side point.

It could be a rude awakening for him when he comes up against a quality winger and we might learn the hard way that hes not the answer(most suspect this anyway).

Could score a Hattrick and someone here will criticize the fact that he gave away a corner. There is no perfect player.

Good performance. I quite like him as a fullback. Feels like folks deliberatly nitpick the performance when it comes to Nunes.

Does he have a future at City? Who knows. At the moment I just don't think there's anyone in squad better suited than him playing RB, maybe unless we start playing Akanji or Stones there.

Each game he's played at right back he has got better. Apart from his mad 30 seconds against ushited he has done well.

He started off a bit sloppy but Dias went straight over to him to keep his head up. Ipswich had clearly targeted us down that side as they switched the play and had a lot of luck initially. Again, Dias went over to him and just gave him some advice on positioning and we seemed to kick on from there and took control of the game.

Whilst he gets a lot of stick, he's holding that width single handed at times, as Foden was drifting inside a lot. And he's also going into the middle to try and add control. I think he had a good game personally.

Who knows, that idea might even catch on?

In the meantime it’s a question of hacking and tacking and at least Nunes has shown willing to fill in wherever and give it a go, whether at RB or further forward.

Like others, though, I fear he’ll get a lesson sooner or later from a tricky winger.

I think that is harsh.

Considering he's been a training cone since he joined and a victim of Peps inane obsession with playing players out of position, i really admire his application in trying his best at the RB role.

No, he doesn't have the defensive skill of Walker but he's not a defender. He's tidy going forward though and a bit of an improvement on the person he is standing in for :)

If the other, less arsed members of the squad showed his spunk, we'd be much further up in the table than we are now.

Was ok tonight. Not great but club suck ups will be blaming him and analysing every part of his performance instead of Rico lewis

Had a good game. Handled a very tricky winger fairly well, had no help whatsoever from Foden. Sold himself once and got punished for it, other than that he did his defensive work well enough, possession was decent and offered an outlet first half that wasn't utilised enough. Great run to create the second goal. We haven't had a better right back all season.
