Freddie was great - but claiming that he was the greatest is subjective - others may well differ - even those who enjoy the genre.Freddie Mercury was out on his own as a frontman, nobody close so who do people think was/is the 2nd best ever ?.
I kinda like Jack Blades of Night Ranger, David Lee Roth in the 80s, Dee Snider of Twisted Sister was fun.... sorry can only comment on music I was in to which was primarily rock.
Plant for me was the greatest - as I enjoyed Led Zeppelin's music the most - in spite of their awful lyrics.
Bon Scott was perhaps my second favorite - I don't know the extent to which he contributed to AC/DC's lyrics - but they were at least well written.
Klaus Meine of Scorpion fame - Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden - Ronnie James Dio of various bands - and,yes, controversially, Jani Lane - of Warrant fame (infamy) - Lenny Wolf of Kingdom Come - and so on. So many talented singers of heavy rock/metal bands.
