2nd Best Frontman In Music

Had a bit of discussion about best front men on another thread recently.

David Lee Roth at his peak was the best front man that I ever saw.

Mercury, Jagger, Plant, Rod Stewart, Paul Stanley and that other guy from Kiss are some of the best that I've seen.

My rock interests span hundreds of bands from the late 70s to the mid 2000s and include a lot of punk, new wave, alt, emo, grunge, a bit of hip hop and straight pop . . .

And I have to agree about David Lee Roth save for maybe one guy -- Bill Carter of The Screaming Blue Messiahs.

David Byrne from Talking Heads was pretty good. Henry Rollins when he was in Black Flag too.

As soon as I saw Sean Ryder had made the list I stopped reading.

I would have thought from the modern era Chris Martin and Alex Turner would be quite high up.

I would imagine the strangling cat tones of Morrissey will have made the list however, I sincerely hope not.
I almost puked when I saw Justine Hawkins was on the list.

1. Jagger
2. Lydon
3. Mercury
4. Strummer
5. Iggy Pop
6. Rod Stewart (with the Faces only)

I’d have had Bowie circa 72 in there, but didn’t know, as a solo artist with a backing band, if he really counted. Same goes for Hendrix. Lemmy had a bit of presence as well. We don’t seem to be counting women either. If we were, and it’s more to do with her ‘look’ and sound than real force of personality, then Chrissy Hynde is always good value
