Not really sure what you're trying to say.
He joined recently so Pep hasn't had time to work his magic yet. Every player can improve technically, no matter the age. A proper pre-season and more time with Pep and he should come on considerably.

Most CBs are as good or worse than Dias at passing, he'll get better at it and be at Stones/Laporte's level in no time.
He probably won't, those two have been great at that side of the game since before they joined (and they've both improved since).

He can definitely improve though, and he'll certainly grow more comfortable and fluent as he becomes increasingly familiar, he can easily reach Otamendi 17/18 levels if not more, and that's more than good enough.

I think he'll turn out similar to Van Dijk in this regard, but better at the short passing stuff.

Right, I get you.

To be fair, I wasn't saying he won't improve in those areas. More a case of me highlighting that he has two very small areas of his game that he doesn't excel at. Yet.

He's still a kid, relatively speaking so I expect he'll improve at everything.

The main thing to note about his mistake was how he bounced back.

That's the most important thing. He carried on as normal and wasn't affected.

'Elite mentality' as the Twitterati would say.

He was unlucky with the bounce of the ball and it was only a small mistake that could have been punished. I say “could have” because what happened after was a total disgrace to the sport.

He gets a 7/10 for the game itself, 9.999/10 for the season so far.

Yes I know the maths doesn’t add there just go with it.

He's no Maguire or JFE, I don't think he's ever played for Preston or Shalke either, but we'll just have to make do with him.

I'm not sure that the difference between Stones and Laporte now and Otamendi 17/18 is anywhere near as big as you're remembering, personally. Otamendi was comfortably on their level IMO.
