I'm pretty pleased he made the small error because I was begining tho think he wasn't human. Fantastic player.

I'm not sure that the difference between Stones and Laporte now and Otamendi 17/18 is anywhere near as big as you're remembering, personally. Otamendi was comfortably on their level IMO.
He was very very good, yes. But not on their level. Laporte is a technically world class CB passer and Stones is an intellectually world class CB passer.

Otamendi was a very sound passer that was very good at carrying the ball forward and being proactive when he could be, but safe and secure when he couldn't. But it's just inaccurate to say he was on their level. No shame in it either.

Otamendi, like Dias now, had other strengths that more than made up for not quite being on their level.

There wasn’t an error, shameful dive and there wasn’t a single replay. He will take it personally and we won’t concede again for a while. We shackled their entire team. Anfield curse is lifted.
Dias has been incredible so far and has transformed us, without any doubt. But I don’t understand those that simply can’t accept that he made a mistake. He actually made two mistakes that resulted in the penalty. It doesn’t change his half-season review - he’s still colossal for us, but surely we can recognise he could have done a lot better there? People think saying he made a mistake is the same as saying he’s shit, it’s a bit odd in my opinion.

It was an error of judgement and a situation where he could definitely have done much better, but what people are saying is that it was only a penalty because the filthy rat Salah ensured it was.

He mistimed the ball. Mistake. He let the rat bastard dive. Mistake. But you'll find dozens of times a player has his arm on another players arm in the box and they're not a penalty. That shameless diving prick does down like he's been sniped with a 50cal, so I don't blame Dias for it. Perfectly fine challenge.
