It's not a foul when a keeper gets the ball first and then clatters a player. Why is it any different for an outfield player?

I had to have my attention brought to the fact that Dias gets the ball before any contact. I wouldn't be surprised if Dawson missed it or wasn't told to look at it either.

He's living on good will from his first and second seasons and getting a pass for a considerable drop off in form and fitness. Lewis and Nunes will get pinned as the weak links, but Dias has been very vulnerable lately.
100 percent correct and hate to say it but not a patch on van dick at Liverpool.

He brings leadership and organisation in set pieces but the way we play high line he does look clumsy because he has no pace! The way pep trusts his experience players Khosovnov might as well go out on loan because he won displace any of Akanji Dias and Ake stones if they stay!

Physically been off. Dealt with nagging injuries early on. Still, the best leader and defensive organizer on the team, I think.

Well, I love this guy. He is 100% part of the team. An absolute leader, whatever you might think about his form on the pitch. Something I always notice about him — even when he's on the bench, he's egging the team on, and he goes mental when we score. He's in the team whether he's out there on the grass or not.

Hasn't a pass worthy of the name in him. Marmoush making some great runs and all Ruben does is pass it sideways to someone else. Nowhere near the player he's hyped up to be. If the right offer comes in Id let him leave and build around Khusanov and Gvardiol.
I agree . Had that standout season when he came and did well the year after but hasn’t done a great deal since then . Very steady player but not on the sane level as gvadiol and dick van dyke .

You've seen the mess at the back this season and decided this summer would be the time to ditch our second most reliable defender and the glue of the back line? That's certainly a bold opinion. And imo, a completely mental one.

Has been great since he got paired with Gvardiol. Hope we stick with the partnership into next season.
I hope that Pep isn't going to stick Gvardiol in that LB position again.
I fear its the easy option for him to do that.
When he took O Reilly off last night, he stuck Akanji on at CB and I can see him doing that again.

Is he though? He talks the talk but I'm not convinced he walks the walk. He may well be vocal and have leadership qualities which a lot of our team lack but his lack of pace and the way he gets dominated by physical players has always been a worry.

I feel a bit like he makes everyone else around him better. We have a lot of young defenders who I think are prone to lose their heads when things go awry and I think we absolutely need someone who has been there and done it in so many pressure filled situations to marshal them. The challenge is to find a defensive unit with skills that complement eachother and negate the weaknesses of him (and the weaknesses of the others)…and that stays fit!

Yes he is, he's the only one who tries to bring organisation to a back 4 that regularly are in firefighting mode and all over the shop. And this is from somebody who has been critical of him in the past, there's been times where he would be behind most if not all other defenders but right now he's showing his worth and very much deserves his place. I expect him to be named permanent captain next season not sold.
