So rushed back and injured again, rinse and repeat for our centre halves this season.

Yeah of course Pep, absolute genius from you to give him 90 minutes against Ipswich when the game was done at half time right before the most important CL game of the season, superb management of a guy who just returned from injury, almost as genius as playing him and Stones in that Carabao cup game against Spurs that you admitted wasn't important, that game started all these injury issues for him, and of course it's really genius to rush him and other defenders before they are fully fit further aggravating their injuries.

He wouldn't have lasted the 90 anyway. Getting a very cheap booking in the 9th minute was incredibly foolish from him. After a few other poor tackles he was probably one foul away from a red and likely would have got himself sent off if we hadn't replaced him. Wasnt a good half from him. Hopefully just illness or precautionary rather than an injury.

3,2,1 until Stones goes a setback too...

Ake, Stones, Dias cannot stay much fit this season. but without them there is zero leadership in defence. big difference from 2-3 years ago of a defence of Ake, Dias, Stones, Walker.

No leadership or bollocks without him or Rodri. Ruben spent a chunk of that first half shouting at players to get their act together. He's a massive influence, but it's embarrassing how timid and frail we are without him. We're like rabbits caught in the headlights and time and time again keep just completely collapsing.

Kovacic, Akanji and Gvardiol are big guys but like mice among men

That cheap booking was completely down to Gvardiol.
Haven't a clue what he was doing. Ran at their attacker who just touched it past him and left Dias with little option.

Vital to defensive focus, organization and intensity.

Some defenders have it (Ruben, Kompany) and some are talented but don't have that leadership gene despite being talented defenders (Laporte, Akanji, Josko, etc).

Khusanov will be vital. His intangibles and leadership were his best attributes at Lens. You need a guy that is willing to take responsibility on the pitch and get big in tough moments.

Oh do fuck off, criticising the best Manager we've ever had, Pep has had to manage an under cooked, injury prone, loss of form player squad all season.

You're obviously an expert but I'll trust in Pep rather than take your invidious POV on board.

Not sure you know how football forums work… people are here to express opinions and pep , whilst seemingly making repetitive mistakes, isnt above criticism

Read his post, it's just typical of someone who can't understand the complexities of managing this seasons squad. I don't mind anyone expressing an opinion or criticising aspects of how the club/team/management are doing but it was a complete hatchet job without any understanding of the problems Pep has had to contend with this season.

I knew we were in for a tough season once we lost Rodri, we papered over the cracks in the initial games but we've suffered with a midfield that's too old, slow and out of form, we were well out classed in that department last night but we'll get it right.
