3 | Ruben Dias - 2025/26

Now that he broke up with his gf, I expect him to get back to his best. Usually performs best when he is single ;).

I got slagged off saying he’d be fourth choice but I stick to that, far too slow to play our highline, if we carry that on, no way he plays ahead of Khusanov

Maresca may not play much of a high line, outside of the odd match I saw of theirs when he was manager I couldn't say. Personally I'd keep him. Him, Khusanov, Guehi and Gvardiol is more than enough imo.

Our Sunday League team's manager used to tell us not to have sex on a Saturday night, as it would knacker us for the match next day.
Luckily, as an ugly bugger, I never got lucky on a Saturday night, anyway...

I don’t mind. Khusanov is better and Reis can come back since Girona is in league 2 now.

I’m not saying get rid but I don’t think he will be first choice

He's been immense for us overall and I'd tend towards keeping him.

But, sometimes knowing when to sell is as important as knowing who to buy. If we got a big offer for him and he wanted to go, it might not be the worst idea.

Then instead maybe keep Ake around for the last year of his contract for his experience and we'd still have 4 excellent central defenders, plus room to give Reis a go.

At any point last season until hearing Pep was off. I'd have said sell, his lack of pace has become a serious issue, stick him in a low block, backs to the walls, everything infrint if them team and he'll excel, his weakness are exposed with us however, he is an undeniably brilliant leader with a tonne of experience that we simply cannot lose right now. Keep him for another season, he'll have his chance to earn a starting place, then consider selling next summer if he is unhappy with his status and hopefully a few more young players mature. We just tied him down on a new long contract so we hold all the cards here.

I’d sell Dias this Summer. (Which we won’t).

His stock will start to drop quickly over the next couple of years but as of now he still has a bit of a rep for being an elite defender.

We could get 70m for him if we can get the right buyer.

We could easily go into next season with these 5 CB

Guehi
Khusanov
Reis
Gvardiol
Ake

and if you want a 6th give Stones a year, pay as you play deal.

Nothing against Ruben and as a man he’s a top lad, but business is business and we should be ahead of the curve in my opinion with this one.

Posted this 2 months ago in the Khusanov topic.

It makes so much sense to get rid this summer.
Even €60m I’d accept. It’s an area we have good players already and should cash in on him now.

60m Dias - 60m Savinho - 120m then for an elite winger.

Type who'd want to play every match - fair play for that. I just don't think he gets in our best team and he's been on the wane since the treble season. He does my head in most of the time now to be honest, with his behaviour when we got battered by united particularly embarrassing

Battered by United? When was that?

With Bernardo leaving and the uncertainty surrounding Rodri and Gvardiol, nobody at the club would like to lose Dias.

I'm sure Viana or Maresca rate him much higher than some on here. But if he wants to go (might be personal), then it's different, and makes Gvardiol's bargaining position quite stronger, because we can't afford to lose both.

Khusanov made a lot of stupid mistakes against Everton. From TV I could sense how nervous he was and wasn't ready for that pressure. That's when players like Ruben are vital.

Skills aren nothing without experience, leadership and winning mentality.

Ruben is a great CB and I don't think people writing him off understand that club extended his contract for a reason.

He will be first choice and most probably will be chosen as a captain.

If everyone stays

Ruben-Gvardiol is our main defensive duo
Khusanov-Guehi are subs..
We have 4 outstanding centre backs, 5 if you include Ake

Kush is the best central defender at the club. You won't get many Blues agreeing with your post
