You can’t compare him to other keepers because he plays differently to them, much in the same way our fullbacks do different things to any others in the league.

The high line dictates Ederson starts further from his line than anybody else would in another side. If he doesn’t come rushing out for the first goal sons got an easy chip into the net because Ederson’s starting position wouldn’t be on his line and he wouldn’t be close enough to the ball to make any attempt to block it. He either comes out or gets caught out in no mans land. It’s a tactical weakness in our game it’s not an Ederson weakness.

Ederson did nothing wrong today, Put any other keeper in there, they’ll be told to do exactly the same thing. any keeper playing for Pep will always come out in those situations and they’ll likely be dropped if they don’t.
At last a bit of reason. Both goals we were hopelessly exposed. If Ederson would have stated routed to his 6 yard box, we would have so slaughtered him too

The best thing to do is to compare him to Neuer who has a similar style. Ederson's problem is not the style, it's his positioning and shot stopping abilities. Son has done the same 3 finishes between Ederson's legs and it cost us a UCL semi final and this game tonight. Son has a harder finish if Ederson stayed closer to his line.

It's about calculating probabilities. On both goals, Ederson makes it much easier for the finisher when he moves so far out. He should instead stay calm, and protect his goal. In both situations the player is about to be pressured - especially on the first, and in the second situation there is a bad angle. You have to be offensive as a goalkeeper, especially within this football philosophy, but you also have to use your head and analyze the situation.

Literally the least of our worries at the moment. He has kept two clean sheets this year so far, golden glove last year.

Anyone watching the Barca game tonight would have seen this from Ter Stegen,

A lot worse than anything Ederson did today.

Totally ignoring when a Son went past him but his heavy touch took him wide. He may as well stay on his line if he’s going to come out and doesnt get a touch the ball

Said it for months now. And said it on here a few times. He just doesnt save enough shots.
Bravo was slaughtered for his shots to saves ratio but ederson has seemed to get away with it ...
It just happens to many times.
1 shot 1 goal.
Great passer ...yes.
Great keeper ...no.
Spot on. I said it in the match thread and I’ll say it here. Dean Henderson at United is a brilliant keeper. Get him and our defence is sorted.

He will be England’s #1 for years in my opinion.

4 words.

Stay on your (f***ing) line!
No ‘keepers in world football stay on their line. ’keepers kept getting criticised in the 1980s for staying on their line and since then none do it.

First role of a keeper is stopping shots
Yes, and in a team that plays a high line, that is by coming out to try and stop the shot.

Ederson has made some absolutely superb saves this season by... coming out and stopping shots.

If you watch back the games against Leeds and Porto, he made about 6 key saves in those two games alone. There was one against Liverpool at 0-1 n’all.
