Feels a bit of a snide comment by the poster either way to focus on that rather than the key saves.

I'm wondering if supporters of other clubs scrape the barrel as much as ours do when it comes to criticising our own.

He's brilliant but even he can't save everything.
Everyone makes mistakes, keepers mistakes are highlighted because at the top level they usually result in a goal.
Sometimes, the finish is just too good, e.g their 3rd goal last night. Who woul have saved that??

When we were close to useless there was less criticiscism
I love him, but I think he could be better.
He could be as good as anyone at shot-stopping and combined with the defence in front of him and his slightly mad persona, he'd develop an aura like the very best goalkeepers do that almost beats strikers before they shoot.
In those CL games for Benfica the season before he came to us, he was an absolute wall, it was ridiculous. These days it feels like being good is good enough because of his feet.
Hard to say from the outside but you also wonder how much of a role Xabi Mancisidor the GK coach plays. Hart went to shit under him, and most blamed Hart rightly, but I remember David Preece on a podcast saying that Mancisidor let Hart do whatever he wanted in training compared to Massimo Battara (Mancini's GK coach) who was a real disciplinarian and that being the beginning of the end.
It will be interesting to see how things change if Mancisidor leaves with Pep after 10 years at the club.

This was at Game Week 29 in the league last season. He did drop-off a tad towards the end coinciding with the league win and ended about 4th.

He's very strong on corner claims as well - best is top right quadrant in the chart.

His distribution is the best - by eye test but also based on the advanced data.
Someone earlier in the thread was highlighting short and long pass success rates for his passes.
This is a too basic way to look at it. The advanced data categorises GK distribution by short, medium and long AND then splits it into whether the GK is under pressure or not. Additionally, it measures how many opponents the passes take out.
