Ederson is the best keeper in the world with the ball at his feet. His range of passing and accuracy is unmatched. And he's a gifted keeper in the traditional sense as well, though other keepers are better than him in this regard.

For our system - and indeed most systems - where sides play out from the back - skill on the ball is necessary.

Which is to say - Ederson is the best keeper in world football given the modern game.

Just find the thought that our own fans questioning the ability of Ederson is plain weird and totally disrespectful.

Goalkeeper is the hardest position in the team, a poor keeper can destroy even the very best team.

When Pep first arrived we witnessed the issues with Bravo and the effect it had on the whole team, Ederson has arrived and from day 1 has been utterly magnificent.

ALL keepers make mistakes, this dude makes very few, he makes great saves and he is the best distributor of the ball in goalkeeping history.

People questioning this man, need to go and give your heads a wobble.
I don't think it's unfair to say that Ederson isn't an elite shot stopper on par with the very best, but he's still very good at making saves and if he played for a team like Burnley he would probably have incredible figures in that regard. I find the people who talk about him like he's a midfielder wearing gloves to be very disrespectful of him.

Plus, he's fantastic at commanding his area, which is definitely a 'traditional' aspect of keeping.

Moreover, Ederson is way above average at shot stopping. He's ultra aggressive which often pays off but at times makes him look silly or leads to a penalty.

Shot stopping and too aggressive may fairly be seen as detriments to his game.

But what Ederson offers in compensation for the slight defects in shot stopping and over aggressiveness is unmatched range and accuracy of passing. In the modern game this is huge - and especially so for our system.

Ederson is the best keeper in world football for any side that wants to retain the ball and play out from the back. Ter Stegen would be the next best option followed closely by Neuer.

Great reactions to prevent an own goal, could have been a very different and tough night if he didn't hold together a shaky defence early doors. Hopefully whatever he felt in his ankle was just a twinge, that pitch looked piss poor.

Name a better keeper who has commanded his box better since the reindeer? He’s exceptional and it goes unnoticed

I wouldn't swap him for any other keeper in the world Simply The Best CTID

I’d lost the Sky remote the other day and on the tele was Neville’s soccer box. It was with Giggs and two derbies. The 2-3 where Quinn scored twice and the 4-3. Interesting to note how poor Rudolf was for Quinn’s brace. Especially the second. He comes to claim the cross 3ft behind Quinn’s head.

But more interesting was Giggs saying about the 4-3 that they’d always had Given pegged as a keeper you’d just swing the ball in right along the 6 yard box as he was never going to leave his line.

I don’t think I’ve seen a keeper quite so good at coming off his line as Ederson. It’s obviously not his size but more his reading of the game and judging the flight of the ball. He is so utterly perfect for us.

Allison somehow seems regarded as the better keeper, I’ve no idea how, I can’t see one aspect of keeping he’s got over Ederson. It’s noticeable when you see the more direct robust teams play Liverpool they target him. Be it, his poor judgement ‘sweeping’ or feebleness under pressure of set pieces. With Ederson, teams actively look to avoid aimlessly chopping it over the top and normally outswing corners. Just look how Moyes targeted Allison and got results, he just didn’t bother with Ederson as he came for everything.

Allison's short passing play is terrible. Few teams press Liverpool so he doesn't get pressurised very much.

Alison is a headcase now. He has so many weaknesses And theyre mostly mentally driven. Hes basically shit scared of everything.

I remember David james being the same at Watford, I always thought he’d go on to be one of the best of his generation, however, good coaches sniff out the Achilles heel of players and once exposed it’s hard to recover, hence the calamity label becoming attached… Allison, as @schfc6 highlights, has been exposed and it fundamentally tells, I can’t believe pundits and fans were waxing lyrical about his passing game being superior to Eddie 2/3 seasons ago, totally laughable…

Edersons flaws? He can be caught cold at times which is an indictment of our heavy possession at times but I think that is improving also… when we talk about the impact of styles on the game which Pep has evolved, the same will be said about the keepers who need to now play that style, this guy, for me, is the benchmark for all to follow and an anomaly thus far!
