If he carries on gifting the opposition goals in semi-finals, Bazunu be fine.Bazunu has to get past Zack Steffan first before he can challenge Ederson. Not any easy task and that will take a couple of seasons.
One major mistake since he got here. Even Alisson ( who is meant to be the bestest keeper in the werld) has made a few major fuck ups during his time a Liverpool. If he carries on gifting the opposition goals in semi-finals, Bazunu be fine.
It’s almost as if we’d scored our chances, we’d have won comfortably. We conceded 6, however.
One goal more wowWe conceded 6, however.
Kind of mooted your point though, that fact. One goal more wow
Not really when our keeper just had meant to of had a bad season but ended up joint golden glove winner.Kind of mooted his point though, that fact.
Yes we conceded one goal more but had 16 shots on target to their 10.One goal more wow
Having made 60 saves (ranked 20th in the PL) compared with the 76 from fewer games that the other joint winner had. He gets a chance at the golden glove every year in huge part because of the team he plays behind. Not really when our keeper just had meant to of had a bad season but ended up joint golden glove winner.
He isn't perfect but we should give him to the next season to fully recover. He has shown that he is more than capable.Yes we conceded one goal more but had 16 shots on target to their 10.
As we are all aware, Ederson doesn’t often, if ever, make mega mistakes. He saves the easy ones and the ones he concedes tend to be ones where it’s possible to argue it wasn’t his fault.
The difference between Ederson and a traditional great keeper is that a great keeper makes the special saves, Courtois made 3 saves in the CL final (and the studs save on Grealish) that he had to right to make. Any of those 4 goals go in and no one is blaming the keeper as they wouldn’t have been his fault. But that’s the difference, every now and again - and more regularly in the latter stages of the CL - your keeper usually has to get you out of the fire and make a save no one expects of him
. Liverpool and Madrid have both won the CL with their keeper getting man of the match. Has one ever been awarded to Eddy in his 5 years at the club?
*That is unless you decide to smash 5 in at the other end every game. Hopefully we do that next year with our added firepower. (Or rely on amazing goal line clearances from defenders - of which I can remember at least three from recent seasons without remembering too many saves that made me go “fuck me, wow”.)
Anyway, it is what it is. I’ll add the usual caveats that I don’t want Ederson to leave City, I just want him to improve his shot stopping (to his own previous levels).
He faces the most big chances though because of the way we play, therefore his save percentage is going to suffer unless he pulls off lower percentage saves.Having made 60 saves (ranked 20th in the PL) compared with the 76 from fewer games that the other joint winner had. He gets a chance at the golden glove every year in huge part because of the team he plays behind.
Oh absolutely.Which we should give him to the next season to fully recover.
The same could be said about Alisson who is Ederson's rival.Having made 60 saves (ranked 20th in the PL) compared with the 76 from fewer games that the other joint winner had. He gets a chance at the golden glove every year in huge part because of the team he plays behind.
I meant to post your (very valid) point a few days ago. Had we taken a 3 goal lead to Madrid then the spotlight would not be shining on Ederson. We didn't and Ederson perhaps should have done better. Well he didn't, and now he's the scapegoat. Some blues haven't a fuckin' scooby, they really haven't : /It’s almost as if we’d scored our chances, we’d have won comfortably.
People turning on Ederson is mad.
Sectionable madness.
Again, I’m fully aware of that mate. I only make the point about the number of saves as a rebuttal to the “he just won the golden glove again”argument. I’m not a great keeper (although I played for Morecambe up to U-18) but I reckon that even at 40 I could have kept half a dozen clean sheets in the PL last season as Ederson didn’t face a shot on target in nearly 10 games. He faces the most big chances though because of the way we play, therefore his save percentage is going to suffer unless he pulls off lower percentage saves.
Fair enough and I can’t fault you logic, but it seems harsh to call out Ederson too much as he does make a difference in our side in ways other keepers can’t.Again, I’m fully aware of that mate. Alisson shades it but there is not too much difference in the percentages to be fair. If there was a significant difference then we should start looking to buy a new keeper.Yes, which is why I mention him and how many saves he made. I posted their save percentages as well last week:

I can’t speak for anyone else on the forum obviously but I’m not calling him out. Just trying to call it as I see it and I’m quite sure Ederson would say he had disappointing season last season compared with his usual standards. Doesn’t mean he should go anywhere. I’ve mentioned before that I don’t think our GK coach is up to much.Fair enough and I can’t fault you logic, but it seems harsh to call out Ederson too much as he does make a difference in our side in ways other keepers can’t.
Embarrassing to be honest.Yes, which is why I mention him and how many saves he made. I posted their save percentages as well last week:
